Post » Sun Dec 13, 2009 10:14 am

i attached a silencer to my weathered 10mm pistol. ever since then when i have my pistol out in first person view the screen has a tannish shade to it during the day and a white during the night, in third person view, i have a red square with a exclamation point in center surrounding my character. and it doesn't show a gun just my empty hand in both views

Same problem here. For me the gun does work but just it is invisible.Once you see an enemy you can shoot it regularly or use VATS system to shoot it.

From what I read from other posters, you can't upgrade the Weathered 10mm without bugs. Something having to do with the fact that it's a "specially given" gun for buyers of the collector's edition.

Nah, it was just part of the pre-order bonus "Classic" pack. It was/is a pretty nice bonus, though.

ya if you dont want to be able to fully utilize it then it is but I personally would like to be able to put mods on it and still have it work the way it should. Right now its sitting in my weapons crate in the Lucky 38 gathering dust til they fix the problem!

Oh, I agree with you. I'll just have to wait for the problem to be fixed.

It's in the Game Guide...we cannot mod pre-order promo items.

I believe it also says you cannot mod a companion's weapon.

In the "Game Guide"? What's that, exactly?

I'm looking at page 13 of the NV manual and page 30 of the NV Official Game Guide (where modding weapons is addressed), and there's nothing here about an inability to mod pre-order promo items. There's nothing on the Classic Pack voucher that would lead me to that conclusion, either. I do recall reading that you can't mod unique weapons or companion weapons, but those are options that aren't present in the game anyway.

I wholly expect this will be fixed.

Yes, the Official FNV Game Guide.

You know what...I just can't remember where i read/heard about not modding the promo weapons. It may have been a Developer's Diary or some other pre-release material that someone from FNV did. The Best Buy Q&A video chat maybe? It may even have been a post here. There's been so much lately...I'm sorry, I don't remember.

Now I'm wondering if the not modding a companion weapon only applies to a weapon they bring with them or does it apply to any weapon I acquire and give them to use? Can companions use modded weapons?

Not a big deal at all. I'd find it interesting if the inability to mod pre-order weapons was mentioned by devs in an "official" capacity anywhere, as it'd then stand to reason it was a known issue prior to release...in which case the option to mod those weapons shouldn't have been included in the first place (why not just handle them like unique weapons?). As it stands currently the option is present in the game, and modding the weapon certainly doesn't give the intended result. If it were mentioned anywhere in the official game documentation or even on the Classic pack voucher I wouldn't expect it to be fixed (but if that were the case I wouldn't have tried modding the gun in the first place).

I don't have all of the companions yet, and I haven't tried to be honest...but I don't see why not. Boone's rifle is already scoped, but it's never accessible in his inventory. I imagine you can give them whatever modded weapons you want, you just can't mod their default weapons.

Same issue when I put the laser mod on it. Really is a bug that can/should be fixed.

Well, what it really means is you can't Mod Unique Weapons. Which some of the Pre-Order SWAG is just that, Unique and hence un-moddable.

I am surprised the game even let you put the silencer on the gun. Must be a bug that allows that. As for the weapon screwing up because you did something you are not supposed to do, I would not call that a bug.

Aye, there's the rub.

The problem is, that verbiage isn't present in any official capacity, anywhere; there is no "weapon screwing up because you did something you are not supposed to do". It's simply a consequence of using an existing game mechanic available for the Weathered 10mm pistol. It almost seems as if you're being intentionally obtuse...I don't know what you're hoping to accomplish.

Split hairs all you'd like, this is a defect. Like any other defect it needs to be identified, reported, and most importantly, fixed.

same problem here, they should really fix it. Not only does it make the designers look bad but gamestop looks like a bunch of chumps for giving a bonus that doesnt work
