that is why in Morrowid Cast and Recall were on of my favorite spells to use in the game. Also there is a certian "Boots" BoBS (don't want to spoil it for you
) that if you get, makes your travels soooooo much faster.
Here's another fun one that's only possible in Morrowind (I think, never played Oblivion):
Icarus Launch Ring (that's what I call it hehe)
Get an exquisite ring (one with 120 enchant capacity) - you can use Procellus' ring and these are otherwise not too hard to find/buy
Go to enchanter (or enchant it yourself if you can afford to lose soul gems) - will cost roughly 60k septims; I recommend using a golden saint gem for max charges but you can use an ogrim or better too; place the following magicks (it will fit):
Fortify Acrobatics 99 for 2 seconds on self
Fortify Strength 100 for 2 seconds on self
Foritfy Acrobatics 100 for 2 seconds on self
Jump 100 for 2 seconds on self
You will need to get/buy the spells first, of course. I don't want too many spoilers here so I won't go into that now.
Now, to use it, go outside and face the direction you want to go - compare your bearing with your destination by looking at the arrow on your world mini-map. Try to get the bearing as close as you can (this is half the fun). Activate your ring, and straightaway run forward and jump! Enjoy the show, there's nothing like it. I think the Icarus scroll is more effective, but with this item you can jump roughly from Balmora to downtown Pelagiad (depending on your base strength and current encumbrance). You can take a journey that would take 15 minutes by running in 15 seconds. When you land, you will probably die so also make:
extravagant ring (the one with 60 enchant capacity), also pretty easy to get/buy, enchantment will cost about 35k septims:
Constant Effect
Slowfall 1 on self
Water Walking on self
(optional, to use up the rest of the enchant capacity): Fortify Speed 1 on self
When you are in the air, look straight down at all times. When you see terrain features appear, you are close to landing. Now equip the gyro ring (my name for it). This will prevent you from taking any damage when you land - but you won't get any acrobatics skill gain.
I use mine all the time to the point where I am often recharging the launch ring with soul gems. It's a mini-game in itself - with practice, you can land right on top of your desired destination.
If you think 100k septims is expensive - you are right, but remember you can recoup your cash at enchanters by selling off all those ebony/glass weapons you have no use for, after you create the ring(s). Also, really you only need to come up with 60k because you can 1) make the launch ring 2) sell off 60k worth of junk 3) make gyro ring 4) sell off 35k of junk.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, if you use the gyro ring, make sure it is not equipped when you launch. If you equip the launch ring and the gyro ring at the same time and jump, you will drastically reduce your forward jump distance. This is why you jump with just the launch ring - then look down (don't worry you have plenty of time as long as you pay attention to the screen) and put on the gyro ring just when you begin to see terrain instead of fog.
