Regret

The hype on this game was tremendous. I was looking forward to this games for the weeks leading up to it. I preordered the collecters edition which i am very satisfied with. Howerver, for 80 dollars, all i ended up with was a oversized silver poker chip, more poker chips, a deck of cards, a making of cd, and a game that simlpy is embarrassing. I cant even walk ten seconds with out the screen freezing or having a hicup. The constant crashes are just driving me crazy. Honestly, bethesda says that they are aware of the issues and are working on a patch. If you fail to do so as you did with Fallout 3 GOTY, are you going to refund everybody their money back? I Doubt it. You'll probably push it under the carpet and hope it blows over. If the issues are not resolved and a patch is not put out soon, Bethesda will lose me as a costermer who has been plaing fallout since the first edition. I am truely disappointed you can even put out a game at this standard.

Don't tell me that after all the predicament, they managed to release a game with the same issues as F3 for PS3? I would never believe it...it cannot be true.

My Fallout 3 experience was only hampered by occasional freezes. I switched to a different auto-save and was fine the rest of the way. I don't understand myself, same engine and virtually the same game assets. You would think that Bethesda and Obsidian would do some proper QA. Seriously, why is it this bad? I have stopped playing for fear that a game-ending bug might force me to start over or what. But really it is hard to play a game when you can't see certain interfaces and don't know who you are talking to.

I hate to be so skeptical but i don't think they'll be able to solve the freezes. i think the problem is in bedded in the way the engine handles the usage of RAM. so to avoid problems they should have rewritten the code, or just make a new engine for a new game....

They have confirmed a patch, and I have had no problems beside one crash and hiccups.

i believe patching will work because it did in fallout 3 for the most part... its just i hope they dont take forever to get it out as i have stopped playing because it is just making me mad... inversly.... I hope they dont rush the patch and have it just make another patch needed...

The problem with this is that there are millions of lines of code. One patch may solve a single problem but then that patched code has to integrate FLAWLESSLY with the other uncountable bits of code. Patches are a continuous process...forever. The only reason other title stop getting patches isn't that they are perfect...it's that the developers stop making money on the title. FO3 isn't getting a GOTY fix because there is no money to be made by fixing old software.

Well hozrhayt then BETHESDA should go out of buisness because they are not operating like a legitimate buisness company. If they are treating their customers like you say.

I like the latest Gamespot review (http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/rpg/falloutnewvegas/review.html?tag=topslot;title;1)

Some quotes:

"Absolutely swarming with disastrous bugs"

"Not to mention frequent crashes on both consoles and corrupted game saves, which might cause you to lose progress."

" These are but a small number of the major bugs we encountered. Fallout: New Vegas is a technical mess."

Well, I don't know about you but I can't wait to play it when I get it next week. :P

Be that as it may....that is capitalism. Also it isn't just Bethesda that operates this way. Every software studio does this. Does Microsoft still make security updates and such for windows 3.11? Nope...stopped many many years ago. There is no company in any industry that continues to support old products after they are no longer profitable.
