Morrowind unplayable

Post » Tue Dec 15, 2009 6:20 pm

Hi there :)
I heard great things about morrowind, and got myself a copy (goty edition)
But i get headaches and dizzyness i feel like i have to puke if i play it for longer than 30 min. Is there a way to stop this from happening? (the graphics are the cause, i think)

If you are experiencing flashes of certain textures while being in an outside cell: Doors disappearing, Hair becoming invisible, Clothing having clipping issues, etc...it could quite possibly be a lack of power on your graphics card. Cards without the proper features (forgive me for not remembering what it is they need exactly) experience an issue known as Z-Fighting. Basically when two items are trying to occupy the same z-plane position. This causes the disappearing textures (if that's the issue you're having). I know that on my laptop (which sported an onboard Intel video chipset) I had issues with Z-Fighting, it was quite annoying. If this is the issue you're having I would recommended replacing your graphics card, if you are using a laptop I'm afraid it's tough luck.

Of course if this is just an issue of the graphics making you nauseous then the best bet is definitely a re-texture pack, or mod.

Sit further back from the screen! Or just throwup and break through the pain threshold! Its worth it.

Out of curiosity, are you playing in first person or third? The reason I ask is because I can't play in first person for very long. I only go into first person when fighting or when I need to pick up an item, activate something, or avoid accidentally picking up an object that belongs to an NPC. The reason is, in first person I start to get "motion sickness". I'm not actually moving but my eyes think I am. Before long I start to feel ill.

So I was wondering if you had something like that going on.

Could be the game's FOV.

For example, Half-Life 2 makes me SICK because of it's default FOV. After changing it to something higher, I can play the game for more than 5 minutes without puking.

Another example is Borderlands. The stock FOV makes me puke. Had to install a trainer that changes the FOV to 90.

Different people react differently to different FOV settings in games.
