Post » Sun May 13, 2012 7:57 pm

Hello ,I don't know whether this issue was raised ,but how about Fallout 1,2 port on the iPad ?
Recently released a new model of the device from Apple ,which can easily run this wonderful series of games (I think even the first ipad easily run this game) .I would love to give and to 10 or even 15 dollars for the opportunity to play my favorite game on my ipad .I think I'm not the only fan who dreams about it .I heard that soon Baldur's Gate will appear on ipad .I think it's a good time to start releasing old school RPG .Thank you for your attention .

my English isn't very good , sry for this

Never going to happen, Interplay has no interest in it, and neither does Bethesda.

If your computer can run an internet browser it can run Fallout.

Seeing as emulation software can already play it through say..ROMs(For forum disclosure, their illegal even if you own the game) or you know..ripping it from your copy and dropping it in, on smartphones and other devices like the first PSP.

Fully possible. Modern smartphones whether the iPhone, Android devices, WebOS, WP7, etc. are overkill in hardware specs to play it. Of coarse if you emulate it due to the nature of it, incompatibilities, no optimizations. FO 1/2 lags along.

To my understanding and Hines response to me Zenimax/Beth Softworks have the right to port 1, 2(Tactics too) onto platforms other than ones Interplay sells the existing software to i.e. P.C.

So yes they could high-res it, adopt the controls, etc. to iPad, iOS devices, other smartphones.

Will Beth Softworks tell BGS or another studio to do the porting job?

No idea. BGS recently set out that their hiring both for their next console/PC-gen project and a separate hire for iOS programmer.

If that's a port or something else no idea.

I for one would love to play FALLOUT 1 and 2 on the go. The click based nature of isometric games like FO is perfect for the touchscreen.

Personally seems like a missed oppertunity but you can get get fo1 n 2 on the service onlive but you need a mouse and keyboard and attaching that to a phone would be hard I imagine.

That's not much that different than using a free homebrew remote desktop app and controlling/playing FO 1 and 2 using your smartphone/tablet as a glorified monitor.

But there's a difference between natively playing a optimized and adapted game and mediums like emulation, remote desktop/laptop apps, and or 3rd party services like onlive.

It's been suggested if the BG ports/sales on iOS do good Planescape: Torment might be ported to the iPad/tablets as well.

I don't think the keyboard thing will be a problem especially since I have a keyboard attachment for my iPad.

Now thats what i'm talking about.. I would even consider finally buying an iPad if they so do..

But i think other publishers should see the potential too, just think about how many people or teenagers that love gamin but never could play clasics like final fantasys, fallout, never winter nights, all other 1995-2000 games, wasteland, i dont know, persona, old nintendo or comadre games..

Just think how many of them, including me, would buy thoose games on smartphones just to be able to live thoose great moments..

I was watching Xplay the other day and saw how they ported an isometric turn-based game onto the ipad and could not stop thinking about why they haven't done this yet for the classic Fallout trilogy. I know that you wont be able to buy the original games after this year, but this would be an easy way for Interplay/Black Isle to get some money.

What do you guys think?

Interplay can keep selling the orginal games until December 2013. I also don't see any reason why Bethesda wouldn't then start selling them.

As for putting them on the Ipad. People keep asking about it so I guess there could be a market for it.

Here is another topic about this ===> http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1360777-how-about-port-fallout-12-on-the-ipad/

There's not much to discuss other than what I outlined and particularly if people want the sprites to be "HD."

Biggest thing is how the UI will be implemented. Especially on smartphones. It'll be easier for tablets and maybe even a direct UI port.

Also Interplay can sell 1, 2, and Tactics on -existing platforms.-

I asked Pete Hines and he believes if Beth Softworks wanted BGS or another studio to port it to smartphones/tablets they could legally and he thinks they can.
