Changing class "images" and race statistics

Post » Tue Dec 22, 2009 5:48 pm

I was wondering if it was possible to assign a picture to a costum created class in the Construction set? When creating a costum class, you always get the warrior class image on the class screen ingame. (I'm talking about the pictures with all the items related to your class' skills)

Also, is it possible to give a race penalties to their skills besides bonuses? Can I go below the base value of a skill without adding a pernament drain skill to the race's power, like setting a negative value in the race bonus window?

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, the class pictures are hard-coded into the game, so you can't change it.

For the races, you can't enter a negative number for the bonuses in the CS, but I suppose you could put a script in there that lowers the chosen skill(s) at the beginning of the game. That, or having drain skill as an ability.

Actually, you can change the Class images. They are the same images used for the Level-Up screen. They are found in the Textures->Levelup folder.
Unfortunately, I don't think there's anyway to create a new one to be used by a Custom Class, since it will always just default to the Warrior one. (unless you replaced the Warrior file with a new image, but then any Warrior Class characters would also use your new one)

I'm not sure those class images are hardcoded, I used a bsa browser to peak at the art bsa and all the class images have the exact name as the class they're for. If one named the class image for the custom class exactly as the name as the custom class itself it might work, I was thinking of trying this for the custom classes I made available on planetelderscrolls.com.

Added a bit later:

Open mouth... insert foot... can't be done, I tried it. =P
