1. The original idea for the work bench in Fallout 3 was interesting, but available & easy to use by any player...so my opinion is to create a additional skill called ENGINEERING.
- INT & AG main requirements for engineering skill
- ability to create some weapons depends on the engineering level requirement for a schematic
- ability to create some easy custom weapons like Molotov cocktail (in reality anyone can make it but in the game no?)
- new schematics for weapons modification & upgrade like placing a scope on hunting rifle or expanding the magazine for Chinese rifle (round drum magazine - 75 rounds)...maybe to saw off sniper rifle (already described in first Fallout 4 topic)
- ability of an engineer to create & mount some heavy firepower like for example...player finds Browning M2 (10 ST requirements to use - or there is no possibility to equip this weapon at all in your hands) creates a pedestal and deploy/redeploys this weapon anywhere he likes (brutal in defending a settlement from large attack)...in this matter engineer can scavenge a Gatling gun on some derelict war ship...build a pedestal for it and bring down the havoc of lead poisoning upon enemies...any NPC can use this weapon when deployed..(fat man the nuke launcher in Fallout 3 - in history WW2 could only be launched from pedestal or jeep...discarded due to short range...that included operating soldiers to be exposed to radiation from their own nuclear weapons blast)
- schematics for some turrets that can redeploy ... for example (M60+motivator+fission battery+scope+sensor)
- all this equipment would be extremely heavy.
- someone could say that this character is too strong...but I differ because he is vulnerable upon surprised attack & he needs some time to deploy the weapon...so he is useful as a support character.
2. When acquiring 100% science (full%)...gain the ability to capture "any" robot in the game as an additional friendly follower (only 1 ...extra follower on your maximum follower capacity)
- to capture a robot..player must disable a robot without blowing him up (using EMP grenade) and attach a new fission battery...rewrite commands (its a game so we can flirt a little)
- this robot is unrepairable as it's a additional follower...so when he's destroyed from enemy fire the player must scavenge the wastes in search of a new robot to acquire.
3. 10 INT & 100% speech any player with this feat could convince any wanderer or peasant (that is not a crucial character) to join him as an additionally follower (only 1 ...extra follower on your maximum follower capacity)
- follower can be rearmed & reequipped - but due to small HP ..he wouldn't last long enough (or average HP ... cannot heal)
- so when loosing his companion the player would have to find a new victim to join his cause
Someone could try to acquire 2 bonus followers clicking science/int/speech...but the game can be regulated by small precious amount of skill points or a default setting only + 1 bonus follower.
Creating more difference between the skills - puts the player in position what to use...(because usually the selection is automatic)
4. Transport...like in Oblivion a horse...here its easily applicable to a motorcycle
- cannot shoot while driving
- has HP so it's possible to destroy it (explodes like in Fallout 3 blowing up the driver)
- maybe uses some fuel like motorcycle gas tank or maybe not? (I don't care it it runs on air or water - just that it's drivable)
- after some patches you can add armor plates to a motorcycle
I prefer something like a jeep ..with pilot/copilot/gunner in the back..NPCs to operate it..I don't believe that the programmers could create all of this for now..but in the future ...we'll see.. imagine overrunning enemies or splattering them against the wall...
...well that's all...for now...
