Question on modeling

Post » Wed Dec 23, 2009 5:57 pm

Well, I do want to try to make some weapon mods and the only modeling program I have right now is 3D Gamestudio. The models save as .3ds so I wanted to know if I could convert the models to what the Construction Set uses. Is it at all possible to do? Thanks in advance

Umm... You could use a program called "NifSkope" and import your weapon... But I'm not too sure if it will work. It does get it from a .3ds to a .nif file.

I thought .nif files were icons that the menu uses for the items?

I believe that's .tga for the item images. I maybe wrong. I'm new to modding.

I'm not sure myself, it has been a few years since I touched the CS. My brother doesn't have a CS disc so I had to track a download of it down so I can figure what files are what.

Edit: Okay, you are correct about the file names, so I'll just make a random weapon and give the program you recommended a test.

A .nif file is a 3d model. The menu icons can be either .tga or .dds image files.
