Can an Argonian willfully remove themselves from the influen

This may be a stupid question but here it goes. Let me explain.

There are two cases that make me believe it is possible for the answer to my Thread's question to be yes.

-Mere-Glim in the Keyes Novels seems to show some ability to resist the Hist's control even though he does succumb to the influence of the corrupted Hist initially.

-The Fighters guild Questline in Oblivion with the Blackwood company removing the Hist tree from Black marsh and torturing and corrupting it. The Higher up members were all Argonian.

So to make this more interesting I will propose a situation.

During the Invasion of Morrowind in the beginning of the Fourth Era the Argonians are supposedly killing the Dunmer en masse and indiscriminately due to recent modifications by the Hist and the influence of the An-Xiheel. If this is true, which to the best of my knowledge it is, could an Argonian, disgusted with his/her actions and the actions of his fellow Argonians as they are slaughtering Dunmer, reject and rebel against those actions? Possibly even kill his fellow Argonians to help Dunmer refugees escape what he would consider to be his crazed brethren?

I ask this because I am curious and for Roleplay and Artistic reasons. I plan to draw a Disgusted and Rebellious Argonian and Dunmer Warrior Father protecting a Dunmer Mother, with her Baby and Small child, from some Hist crazed Argonians.

Why would any Argonian have a problem with this? The Dunmer have enslaved, murdered and tortured the Argonians for millennia. The atrocities of the Argonian Invasion are pale reflections of the atrocities of Morrowind's entire history. And Argonians aren't typically driven by pathos. I don't know what they're driven by, but I just can't see one striking down his brothers for the sake of a Dunmer whelp.

To answer your question, though, it's difficult to say. Hist is impossible to understand. Hist is alien. I would assume that a certain degree of autonomy is retained, but I couldn't guess how much. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to show a rebellious agent, though, so I'd say go with it.
