Blackrose - a new roleplay

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:47 am

Ethrador wandered round the town with no purpose. He just wanted to try and calm himself down and keep his stress levels to a low and felt that peaceful walks, ableit in a dirty glum town, would take his mind off any bad thoughts. In a way it soothed him. However the ghastly smell somewhat put him off, and blocked his ability to think.

Ethrador took a quick peek into the wilderness and the area surrounding it. By the looks of it, except from the shabby little town he was currently in, there was no other sign of a town or city in sight. Ethrador guessed that he was so used to seeing the Imperial City spire from almost wherever he was in Cyrodill that it felt odd to feel so isolated. In fact it actually made Black Marsh feel bigger than his home, even though it was only half the size. The Bosmer also took note of the fact that there were no roads out into the forest, nothing but trees and all sorts of flora. The only way to get in or out of Quianxnixa was by boat, and that possibility was shattered. In truth Ethrador had guilt pains from destroying the docks, for most of the townsfolk made a living by getting paid by shipmasters who would pay to dock up their boat, and the only safe way to get food was from it being shipped by boats sailing along the river. The only positive factor was that it would stop pirates smuggling illegal goods.

After inspecting the local area, Ethrador strolled back into the main plaza of the town. As he was doing so a skinny and malnourished female Argonian beggar tugged on the Bosmer's trouser leg. Ethrador jumped back in fright as he saw the beggar's face. Her eyes looked lifeless, there were execrable scars all over her face. To put it simply, she looked like a living corpse. Though what Ethrador caught sight of next to her was worse. There was a little Argonian boy, laying next to his mother. He had the same facial expression as woman.

''Please, please can you help us, please just something?'' The beggar struggled to talk and started coughing violently. Ethrador was fuming that no-one would bother to help these people
''By the gods whats wrong? Here please take some money.'' Ethrador took 10 gold out of his pouch and handed it softly into the Argonian's hands, he then gave her a bottle of water and two apples. ''You need this food and drink, please keep it, I'll be able to sort my self out. The gold I gave you should get you a room at the Inn just round the corner over there.''
''Oh thank you, you're a wonderful man. We need more people like you. Seht blesses you.'' The two Argonians then limped over to the Inn, the way in which they hobbled showed they were in pain.
''No need to thank me, just get your self cleaned up.'' Ethrador was going to head back into the Inn anyway, thus he decided to walk with them. He was confused as to who Seht was, but just accepted the blessing. God I hate this place. Ethrador thought, upset with what he had just encountered.

As Ethrador got within range of the Inn he heard the sound of glasses smashing amongst other clamorous sounds. He was about to dart inside to investigate the Inn before Ashina appeared outside with Nirabi and a Bosmer, who Ethrador had not seen before. He was quick to question Ashina of the situation.
''What happened in there? I heard the sounds of glass smashing.''
"A guard walked in and bent over.'' Ashina replied, unbothered about the situation.
''Sorry?'' Ethrador responded to Ashina with a puzzled tone. It seemed to be becoming frequent that he would struggle understanding the Dunmer.
''To be simple, Nirabi broke a guards neck.''
''Wait a guard! Do they know of us? Sh*t we gotta get out of here, soon enough they will know where we are.'' Ethrador started to panic, word would only spread of the group's location.
"Of course they know, we just ruined a century's work in Black Marsh." Ashina replied, stating the obvious. Making Ethrador feel a little silly.
''Well we gotta get out of here, pronto! Oh and you might want to get a weapon, if we're leaving soon.'' Ethrador just remembered the Bosmer standing with Ashina and Nirabi. ''Why hello there, I'm Ethrador. Who might you.....'' Ethrador was cut off his introduction by the sound of swords clashing. He swiftly turned over to the docks where he understood the noise was coming from. At a closer glance the Bosmer noticed that the two men fighting were two Argonians, one of them Beeleez-Ra!

Ethrador briskly jogged to a closer position, where he could nock a few arrows at the Argonian Beeleez-Ra was fighting, without being to close to the fray. The first arrow shot was not a good aim at all, it actually was closer to hitting Beeleez than his enemy. Nonetheless it served some purpose as it distracted the Argonian causing him to turn to Ethrador, a foolish move to say the least. The Bosmer concentrated much more on his next shot, tightly gripping the string and lining up the arrow the best he could. As he released the string the arrow flew through the air gracefully but with speed and precision. The Argonian's face wrenched up in pain as the projectile pierced his calf. Beeleez-Ra's enemy fell to the floor crippled, in excrutiating pain. Beeleez said some words to the Argonian and then finished him off with a powerful blow to the face. Ethrador looked away when this happened, watching a man be killed was never a nice sight and he was personally upset that once again another person had been killed.

''What started this? Do you know this man? Are you alright friend?'' Ethrador barraged Beeleez-Ra with a heap of questions, curious to know what in Oblivion was going on. He threw his Bow and Arrow onto his back, awaiting a reply from his friend.

OOC: The last two posts conflicted a bit. Don't worry, this post will fix it. Otherwise, it's not worth reading if you don't want spoilers or like the mystery of wondering where Assamma-Idan is.

IC: Assamma-Idan watched with unblinking eyes, sure they'd give away his presence. But they did not seem to be strange when compared with the eyes of the Argonians whose shaded spot they now shared through force. Even if another Dunmer looked towards him, they'd not notice him there. His skin allowed him to remain invisible, and his armour was muddy and not as noticeable as the light tan material that Ashina and Nirabi wore. It was a wise decision of his, to camouflage himself.
He saw Ethrador wander off, having been splashed with horse droppings or something else that was on the road by a female of his species, and Ashina and Nirabi briefly discuss something among themselves before the two Bosmer began the formalities. There was a brief conflict, as was the norm in Black Marsh, which was his chance.
He scurried out from his hiding place, snatched the sword that had been thrown down, and ran.

The two Dunmer introduced themselves as Nirabi and Ashina but apart from that said nothing about themselves. akiza repeated their names as her mind slowly drifted back into a state simplicity and her eyes glazed over, like this almost evereything amused her and the only emotions she ever showed were curiosity, fear and joy, becoming almost childlike. when Nirabi stared asking her questions all she did was repeat them sounding confused, it wasn't until Ashina asked about the guard that her eyes gained some focus and she smiled muttering the word "river".

The bosmer returned finishing his introduction from before he walked off with a face full of horse droppings. something about Ethrador sparked a reaction from akiza as she finally turned to Nirabi and said "Akiza" when he looked at her funny she smilled happilly and replied with "my name"

ooc: i better explain a bit about akizas personality. she has 3 states of mind, the first is the one described in this post where she is simple minded and child like with the inability to truly focus on anything. the second is when she is enraged by something, when like this she is extremley agile and can easily focus at the task at hand and perform high powered destruction spells that leave her exhausted, this only happens under extreme conditions and life threatening situations. the final state is half way between the 2 where she is capable of understanding the things going on around her but can easily be distracted.

Ethrador could not get a reply to his question from Beeleez Ra as he unexpectedly got hit by a load of Horse dung, it was flung at him by the Bosmer who had recently joined the group. The mess was sent through the air at rapid speed and hit the Bosmer square in the face before he had the time to dodge, causing him to scream. ''Aaaah! What the [censored]! Who in Oblivion did this?!'' Ethrador shouted, he couldn't control his words as the poo hit him so suddenly. It almost completely impaired his vision although he could still make out his surroundings faintly. The most vile factor of the whole situation was the fact that a small amount of the dung found it's way into Ethrador's mouth, resulting in him gagging in his throat. The only thing on the Bosmer's mind was to get the crap engulfing his face washed off. The only idea he had to wash it was to splash the river water all over his face. Ethrador rushed over to the murky rivulet and dunked his head into it, not caring how dirty the water was, it couldn't possibly be worse then what was covering his face. After cleaning his face of the mess Ethrador was breathing heavily as all the rushing around and keeping his head inserted in a river had deprived him of oxygen. He proceeded to moodily lumber up the bank, trying to spit out the remaining taste of dung.

By asking Ashina, Ethrador found out the culprit of the poo-flinging accident was the newly arrived Bosmer. He was about to give her a good piece of his mind. But restrained him self from doing so as she seemed to be prancing around with joy all over her face as if she was some sort of child. Ethrador tried to get her attention, but it was futile, she just ignored him like she was in a world of her own. Out of nowhere, the little Bosmer turned to Nirabi and said, ''Akiza''. The Dunmer looked at her confused as to why she randomly blurted a word. The girl then replied with, ''My name.'' Ethrador was puzzled as to why Akiza gave her name to Nirabi, he was certain it was him who asked for her name, before being pelted with Horse mess.

Ashina tried to ask Akiza where the guard came from, seeing as she was with the guard as he entered the tavern, but was only answered with the word, ''River.'' The guard came from the river? Ethrador thought, but considered not saying it out loud as he would look like a complete idiot. He decide just to ignore her mindless words. Although he was concered that she could possibly insane, one thing was for sure. She couldn't be left all the way out in the unknown in Black Marsh.

''You have any idea what's wrong with that girl?'' Ethrador asked Ashina, she may have found something out about her whilst he was helping Beeleez-Ra and trying to get the dung of his face. Though Ashina just shrugged.
''Well we can't leave her out here, what shall we do with her?'' Even though she would encumber the group during their hike, Ethrador didn't have it in him to just leave Akiza here. It was just not right for him.
"Well, she escaped because of us, didn't she? She's too simple to get out of here on her own." Ashina replied, Ethrador agreed with her, Akiza didn't really seem the independant type.
''So you suggesting we take her with us?'' The Bosmer asked, just to confirm.
"That or we leave her here and she'll follow." The Dunmer responded, making a fair and valid point.
''Yeah I guess so.'' Ethrador chuckled at Ashina's little joke, but it was true though.

Ethrador thought that maybe if he could find out where Akiza lived then the group may be able to get her back home, safe and sound. Although this would only be a possibilty if her home resided somewhere in Cyrodill.

''So Akiza, where abouts do you live then?'' Ethrador asked her, smiling unintentionally as if talking to a young child. He sat down on a bench, stretching and yawning, awaiting a reply.

akiza tilted her head to the side with a confused look on her face as Ethrador sat down on a nearby bench. slowly her mind began to focus as she thought about the question. suddenly a bolt of lightning shot through her mind as she remembered about her old home. "so akiza where abouts do you live then?" Ethrador's question echoed through her head. images of a beutiful country side flashed through Akizas mind, large fields with rows of crops and the ruined castle overlooking the town. then all the beauty was torn away, the field burned and bandits ransacked the town, an orc standing over her brothers corpse laughing, then blackness and a loud out cry of pain from the orc.

Akiza fell to the floor in a kneeling position, shaking, her arms limp by her side. slowly she looked up, tears forming in her eyes. "gone" she croaked "its all gone" her vision blured as she fell to the side ending up uncocious, lying in the mud. as she fell to the ground a voice whispered in her ear "soon akiza, but not now, just a little longer"

Andi woke hours after falling unconscious. He lay in the dirt for about 30 seconds before getting up and shaking his green hair to get the dirt out and brushing himself down. He picked up his books and checked that his sword was still fastened to his belt, it was. And then he froze. He realized there was somebody sitting near him. He slowly turn around to see and Argonian sitting in the dirt near the tree. He must be a tribesman or a bandit, these woods where filled with Argonian tribes.

Andi jumped back to put some space between himself and the Argonian. Andi had never held a sword in combat in his life, but he drew his green gemmed Elven short sword as if it were a reflex, as if the sword drew itself and just used Andi's hand to hold it.

"Who are you! What are you doing here! Andi yelled at the Argonian, not an aggressive yell, but a cautious yell. This guy could have been anyone, a bandit, a highwayman - although in the woods and not on a road it was pretty unlikely, he could have even been a bounty hunter hired to track down the escaped prisoners.

"My books! Your here to steal my books! I knew someone was trying to steal them. No,wait a minute, if you wanted my books you would have taken them from me before I woke up".

He thought about it for a while and put his sword back into it's sheath and asked the Argonian "What are you doing her? Where did you come from? Is there a town nearby? Are you from a town?

"Relax, would you?" Kenjatsu said, pretending he was taking claws out of his neck. Then his expression changed. "Forgive me.." Kenjatsu said, frowning.. "My name is Kenjatsu. I have just recently escaped the prison over there." Kenjatsu looked back in the direction he came from. Then he looked down at the books, them back up at Andi. "I do not wish to steal your books. My horse twisted it's foot on some roots and broke its neck, and then i found you and decided to stay so nothing would.. Eat you." Kenjatsu then looked around the dark forest and made sure there was nothing around that would sneak up and attack the two..

Andi smiled when he heard that the Argonian wasn't here for his books.

"Well hello then, I am Andi, Andi Grunhair"

He paused, and said in a deep voice, trying to sound tough and confident,

"Oh and you don't need worry about anything in these woods eating me, or you, but they will be in for disappointment when I draw my trusty blade. You see, nothing will stop me getting home to my dear Sophie"

He smiled again and looked around in each direction, "Oh and by the way" he said, in a higher voice than before, "You don't happen to know in which direction a town would be do you? You see there should be a town or village around here somewhere, or they wouldn't have a prison in this area. I too am an escaped prisoner and the guards must be trying to track us down so we must be swift. We must find a town post-haste".

He looked in each direction, all he could see was darkness and said, "We must run with the speed of a thousand gazelles".

"So, Andi Grunhair. You are an escaped prisoner as well?" Kenjatsu said with a toothy smile. "Unfortunately, i dont know where the nearest town is. But i do know that if there is a town nearby, then that would mean Guards are nearby as well.." Kenjatsu said, folding his arms.

"Still, we must find a town. Shall we go?" Kenjatsu then got up and looked in the direction where he was heading. "I shall follow you.." Kenjatsu said, looking back down at Andi..

Ethrador was starting to feel confused as to why Akiza was taking so long too respond to such a simple question. Her mindless wondering came to a sudden hault, and she stood motionlessly as if she was in deep thought. Is it really that hard of a question? Ethrador thought, perplexed as to why Akiza had froze on the spot, staring blankly into nothing. It was then that the female Bosmer started to shake, her entire body was twitching nervously, as if she was having some kind of nightmare, but while being awake. Faint, incomprehensible words muttered from Akiza's mouth. Ethrador slanted his head and leaned foward attempting to get a better understanding of what she was saying. It was then that Akiza broke down, falling to the floor with tears forming around her eyes, dripping down her face. Before falling to the ground, knocking her self unconcious, she mentioned something being, ''All gone.''

''What did I do wrong?'' Ethrador said to himself, with a rushed panicked tone. He couldn't leave Akiza unconcious laying in the filthy mud, he dragged her away from the dirty ground into some shade and tried to shake her awake, it was to no avail. She was out cold. ''Damnit!'' The Bosmer clamored loudly, stomping his foot to the ground angrily. He noticed that now two people within the group are prone to fainting, and it would surely be a nuisance during the trek through the jungle, or worse get them in danger. Ethrador hoisted the little Bosmer onto his shoulder and laid her down softly onto the bench he was previously sitting on, using his rucksack as some sort of pillow for Akiza to rest her neck on. The bag was unlikely to minister much comfort yet it would provide some support for her neck, deterring any possible aches there when she rouses her self up.

Ethrador ambled away from Akiza, casually keeping his hands in the trouser pockets. The sun was starting to rise and it's light beamed down on him, providing a nice magnitude of warmth. However this reminded the Bosmer that as the day advanced the temperature would be torrid, therefore making travel extraordinarily onerous. Excessively sultry and stuffy weather was one of the things Ethrador personally abhorred. And unfortunatly the probabilty for sweltering climate was almost certain. He let out a long, dragged out groan. The rising temperature forewarned Ethrador that the day was proceeding and that the guards would be searching for the group soon. He turned to Ashina, cautioning her of the fact.

''Don't you think we should set off soon? The guards will find us here in this dump soon enough.'' Ethrador then remembered the guard Nirabi killed. ''Well they already have.''
"We can hold them off, but I don't want to risk it. We'll go as soon as that wakes up," Ashina said, gesturing to Azika. Ethrador nodded in agreement with the plan.
''Okay that sounds good, but I'm not waiting for Gavin you hear me?'' Ethrador didn't want to wait much longer for people, particulary for someone he barely know.
"Fine. But if he joins us, you stay quiet about it until we get to the next town." Ashina replied, making sure that Ethrador wouldn't tell.
''Don't worry, that little argument will be kept a secret.'' Ethrador said, with a wink as he walked past Ashina to sit next to Akiza.

The Bosmer waited next to Akiza forbearingly, so that when she does wake up he will know about it instantly.

Darkness engulfed Akizas mind, shadows swirled in random paths and she was left alone in the void. she panicked as fear began to grip her. things began to appear out of the darkness, figments of her past. a huge room formed around her and a giant shadow twice her size stood over her, staring with blood lust. she cracked. the air began to shimmer with heat as two large fire balls formed in each hand, expanding, incinerating evereything they touched. akiza cried out in pain as the flames seared her skin, in one last explosion of flame everything disintergrated.

slowly she sat up her head pounding. ethrador sat nearby. she gazed up at the sky and the mix of bright colours made her smile as the sun began to set. what she didnt notice was the freshly formed burn on the palm of her right hand.

"Ok Mr Kenjatsu, we must make haste, lets go" Andi said as he started heading through the trees. They ran through the woods quickly. but very carefully. They had to dodge the roots sticking up from the ground, they didn't want to end up like Kenjatsu's horse.

"Mr Kenjatsu, we must be cautious. While in my cell I heard that these woods are full of Bandit camps and Argonian tribes. If we happen to run into any, we may be in for a spot of trouble. And when we happen upon a town, we must find a tavern or somewhere we can lay low".

They continued to move swiftly through the tall dark trees.

Slowly he slipped through the forest looking for any signs that she had passed through here. he had found the convoy a while back but no trace of her remained accept a piece of parchment with the prisoner details on it, she had definately been there. he suddenly froze as he heard voices nearby, he aproached cautiosly not wanting to be disovered. one of them was ranting about his books and the other, an argonian, claimed to be an escaped prisoner. idiots he thought, talking about that out here were a guard could overhear them. he turned and left swiftly heading south.

OOC: Looks like everyone has left. If my new RP fails, I'll post what I've written. If it doesn't, we'll need to wait for it to finish before we bring this one back up or continue it in a new thread.

But this RP has been excellent - thanks to everyone that's taken part. Hopefully the other RP will fail if you want this one to continue, and if you don't want this one to continue, then join the other one, dammit ;)
