TCL is actually very helpful for freeing yourself when you get stuck somewhere due to a glitch.

TCL isn't intended as a "cheat." It's a useful way to "unstick" your character if you get hung up in the scenery. If you use it to get past locked doors, you're asking for trouble.

Oblivion has no "cheats" at all. All the console commands were designed for game debugging. Like the COW and COC commands make getting places faster without having to set up a door. The AddItem command is so they could quickly test items.

That is how it is for the mass majority of games today. If you go to cheat code sites, you will find that modern games listed mostly only have glitches listed and no actual cheat codes.

Also nice for looking at things and accessing places you don’t have access to. Mostly just for fun/ curiosity.

It really can be used as a cheat on the planes of oblivion, however, as a shortcut to fly up to the tower doors.
