Confusion at defence of Bruma

Hello,

I am at the defence of Bruma part of the main quest. I have gone to the battle at the opening of three oblivion gates. The militia have congregated there but I can't see Martin. The first gate is open but nothing happens. No enemies appear and the other gates do not appear. I have done some of the allies for Bruma quest but not much. I also have a range of mods installed. Can someone advise on what to do? Thanks for your help.

Since you said you're using mods, step one should be to post your load order.

Second: prior to the gates opening and the battle actually starting, Martin should give a speech to the soldiers. You say he's not there--did you meet him and the Countess in the Bruma chapel? And if so, once they were done talking, did you tell him you were ready--and then followed him out of the chapel? He should have gone straight to the battlefield.

Did martin hold his speech before the battle? it looks like it's possible to generate problems in the quest if you are to fast to talk with martin in the temple after talking to the countess, wait for her to come down to the temple and hold her speech.

For me martin and his followers started to walk back to cloud ruler temple, I solved it by fast travel to the gate location, this caused them to reset and appear at the gates.

OK, thanks. Well, I never encountered Martin in the chapel. I just talked to the Countess who told me where to go. The quest marker then updated to the location outside Bruma. Once I got there I did not see MArtin and he gave no speech. I guess Martin should have appeared in the chapel. Anyway, I enclose my mod load order here.

IIRC there are "Bruma Militia" already at the battle field if you didn't get all the possible allies from that quest. All those allies from the other cities will form up in lines outside the city gates when you go to the chapel to meet with Martin and the Countess (the step you missed out).Baurus (if alive), Jauffre and Burd will also be in the chapel for the pre-battle chat, and accompany you to the battle field afterward, along with all the troops that were waiting. I haven't looked to see when the first gate gets opened, but it's quite early in this quest, although nothing comes out of it until the end of Martin's address to the troops.

Let me see if I get this straight: Martin, at Cloud Ruler Temple, tells you to go talk to the Countess. (At this point, in a properly working game, he should be wearing his Dragon armor and leave with Jauffre for the Bruma chapel.) You go to speak to the Countess--still at Castle Bruma--and she should agree to meet Martin. At this point she leaves for the chapel, and you should follow.

Upon the Countess reaching the chapel, Martin should already be inside, and he and the Countess will start to talk. Are you saying that Martin never leaves Cloud Ruler Temple at all, so the Countess walks into an otherwise empty chapel?

What's your last journal entry for this quest?

Ok, I talk to Martin at the temple and he tells me to see the countess although I don't see him go anywhere. I speak to the countess and she agrees to meet Martin at the chapel. The quest entry then changes telling me to inform the countess when I am ready for battle. The quest marker is in the chapel. I should add that before continuing with this quest I did go and do some other things. When I eventually go to the chapel the COuntess is there with Burd and a guard. Martin is not present. I talk to the countess and she gives me several options including starting the battle. When I agree to this the journal updates and I am told to meet Martin and protect him at a new location outside Bruma. When I go various militia and townsfolk line up on the way. When I get to the location there is an Oblivion gate but MArtin is not there, he is back at the Temple. If he met the countess he must have gone back to cloud ruler temple. There are some militia at the Oblivion gate but no daedra and the fight does not happen. The problem seems to be that if Martin met the countess he then goes back to the temple and not to the battlefield. Zaria mentions this above but I cannot fast travel to the gate location.

This was almost the same as happened to me but I don't remember an open oblivion gate.
However I talked to martin in the temple after talking to the countess but before she reached the temple. Martin and his group started to walk towards cloud ruler with default dialoges.
The game missed the crowd of townspeople outside the temple, and the lineup outside the city gate.
Restored itself then I fasttraveled to the battlefield. And marting held a speech for the soldiers and the daedra came.

OK, I don't see how you fast travelled to the battlefield. Even if it is possible, how come Martin now appears there and gives the speech?
