[Mini-REL] CoM Fix

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 10:30 pm

This is just a small tweak mod that I made for Children of Morrowind, but I figured some other folks might want to have it possibly and that I should make it available for download. At the moment I am just hosting this off of my own personal website, but if it is requested I may make it available through the more common mod download sources. I will just post the readme file for you to glance over and see what the mod does.

Further, I would like to add that I have brought both of these items to Emma's attention, and she has advised me that the wall fix at least will be included in the next CoM update, but until such time as that is available I am making this available with her permission.

Not a problem in the least, I figured if I had it cobbled together already I might as well make it public, but I wanted to check in with Emma before I did so as I feel it is normally best to leave bug fixes to the creators of the mods when they are still active. As such, I know it will also become obsolete in the future here when Emma releases her update, but I have no qualms over this, as I feel that is how patches should work in the first place - temporary solutions to something :)

Anyways, let me know if you notice any problems with it. I never was able to figure out what Bethesda was using to disable the Mage's in the Guild in Ald'ruhn during the Theives quest, thus my method of workaround in this patch for it (I attribute this to my skills though, I would assume if Emma also includes such a patch in her update that it would be more refined than this).

Small bump for those who missed it before and may want it - I know it is a very popular mod so there may be more folks looking to get it.

Certainly, I have no problem with that at all.

Also, as a side note, I seem to have forgotten my account on your forums (or perhaps it was pruned) :(

Thank you :)

I don't think your account can have been pruned. And I didn't find any with your username. For many months now, we have had problem with spam-registrations - if you registred lately, you *could* have been mistaken for a spammer and therefore deleted.

Fair enough, I'll just make up a new account next time I pop on over there

And honestly, you can personally do whatever you like with this, Emma, I consider it just as much yours as it is mine since all I did was make a tiny little tweak to your masterpiece after all :)

How very timely! I just DLed CoM for the first time in a very long time, and was about to use it last week. I was completely unaware of this needed fix, and could really use it. As a side note, since I have not yet used either mod, is there an estimate to how soon this fix will be added to CoM itself? If it's soon I may just wait and re-download it.

It's honestly not on the top-ten on my list of things to do. As there is a cure both for the slightly touched wall and the missing rocking-horse nif (the latter won't require any esps), I rather wait until I have something new and more extensive to upgrade with.

Also, this fix is very nice indeed and I'm very grateful to Red Eye for making it, but as there hasn't been any major changes to the wall mentioned, it is in no way *necessary* to have this fix in order to be able to play CoM. I.e. CoM will function 100 % also without it but you might be able to spot a glitch in the mentioned wall, and for thieves, removing the mage guild apprentice will be useful.

EDIT: Red Eye's fix is now also available on the Children of Morrowind-page of my site :)

Thank you, Red Eye :). And you know what... I don't think of Children of Morrowind as 'my masterpiece'. First of all, Robert's body models is 50 % of the ver 2. Second... without the contributions from the whole community, this mod wouldn't 'have been possible at all. The list of contributors in the readme is the longest I have seen - I will always consider Children of Morrowind as a mod not made by me but by the whole Morrowind community :)

Indeed, as Emma said, CoM works just fine without this tweak, it just covers up a little seam in a less than often visited location and makes a tweak to one child that could easily be worked around with out much issue. My fiance thinks there may be one other instance where a child might be an issue with a thieving quest, and if she happens to ever find it again I will probably update again for that as well (though again, nothing game breaking). In my opinion, without it a thief just has a slight surprise and their information was a little off is all - I think that is reasonable ;)

Anyways, since Emma will now be mirroring the file it will be much more noticeable to most folks and should not be overlooked for the folks who desire it in the future anyways :)

I just realized I forgot to thank you! :ooo:

Game breaking or not, I'm one for detail and that kid would have bugged me. Thanks for looking after folks like that. If am ever able to crack the CS back open long enough to relearn it and mod and whatnot, I would hope someone was just as attentive.

So anyhow, thank you to both of you for the mod and bug fix. :)

The thieving quest is probably stealing the potion recipie from Anis seloth in Sadrith Mora. I ran into a child in her attic who stayed up all night and was immune to sneak.

That would probably be the one, I seemed to recall it being a Telvanni location that was the issue. Once I get off my butt and replace my DVD drive I will go ahead and update this to include that child as well.

Small bump for those who might have missed it in the past, or not seen it posted to Emma's site at all. Still need to make the update with the mentioned Telvanni child, but getting a new DVD Drive has been taking longer in this shamble of an economy than I had anticipated without causing undue financial stress at the moment. As this is a small update for the patch though, I will probably take care of that first once I get my new drive, and then resume my current mod projects (linked in my sig, no they are not dead - just on hold, so no worries to those who were anticipating them).
