Multiplayer Matchmaking in TheElderScrolls?

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 8:49 pm

First off if someone else has already posted this topic, I really dont care. Do not post links to the other forum, it is annoying, thank you. Multiplayer Matchmaking, I do not mean 250 person lobbys such as MMO games like World Of Warcraft and such. I simply mean Free For All or Team Based Objective or Deathmatch Game modes. Similar to in Halo, Call of Duty, etc. except in The Elder Scrolls format. Let me start with details and explanation. First lets start with Character customization and Create a class. From the start you could choose between as set of classes (ex.Archer, Mage, Warrior, etc.). This class would define your skills, weapons, armor, etc. For examply say I pick Assassin as my class. Level 1 Assasssin has some Leather Armor, a Steel Dagger and thats it. As you progress through games, you gain Exp and money to spend on Upgrades. Also through leveling up you unlock new items for purchase. For example a Level 1 Assassin could only buy a few differant things, but a Level 30 Assassin would have much more options. Going into Battle you could only wield so many weapons. Maybe a Primary and Secondary or something. Example if I was an Assassin I could equip Dagger, Longsword, and a Bow. Also there could be a slot for a Spell or something. Differant Armor and Weapons would be available for differant classes. No class is overpowered, a balance between everything. Now lets move onto gameplay. Similar to Onlinr FPS, there could be Playlists. For Example a Free For All Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Team Objective, etc. There could be differant Maps, and game variants for each Playlist. I am not sure how all the Specs could work out but I guess what I am describing is pretty much Halo or COD in TES format. Which wouldnt be a bad thing! Tell me your thoughts, without attacking me please in the. forums below.I know this a very tense subject and there will probably be some people who say it will ruin the game. But I am a die hard TES fan and would love to see this added. Particular because I believe guns can be annoying online, Swords and Bows would be cool! And something new!

Rules are rules buddy, a mod will come and lock this thread. There are other threads, go there. And no, multiplayer is a stupid idea for Elder Scrolls. And it probably won't happen.

Also, if you ask the forums, NO ONE will want TES to become some sort of COD like you are describing.

Stupid, hah a commonly used arrogant word. Stupid is not the word for this. I dont get these forums and I think there are stupid rules for it. But whatever I will deal with it. I am a selfish thinker. I want to incorporate two of my favorite things. Online Multiplayer and The Elder Scrolls.

What TES games have you played aside from Oblivion?

And your opinion on the forums' rules changes nothing, you are openly breaking rules and are acknowledging it, and said that as an opening sentence.

Say what you people wish. I used COD as a reference not a direct source. I know that many people, including you people would play a Multipalyer such as I am describing. It would be fun and a welcomed sight for Xbox 360 and PS3 users probably PS3 as well.

If you don't like the rules, leave. If you want to have an intelligent conversation, go to one of the multiplayer threads all over the forums.

Leave, naa I like sharing my opinions. It is people like you who make me want to leave. The rules are only constructive criticism, didnt see much of that. Intelligant conversation, I have yet to see what you mean by that?

Going with what you said and assuming I'd play it for more than about 2 minutes, what about PC users? You seem to be completely forgetting that this is mainly a PC series and started all with PC gamers. Not that it couldn't be added, you just only mentioned the console platforms that have been holding open-world RPGs and games in general back and said that multiplayer (which would hold back and destroy this series even more after the damage done by Oblivion) would be greatly appreciated by the people who are the main reason that Oblivion wasn't as open, deep, or complex as most people would like.

"Multiplayer/Official Threads
We restrict the discussion of multiplayer in regards to The Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3 to one topic in their respective "General" section. All other topics re: multiplayer will be locked and you will be redirected to use the "Official Thread".

We also reserve the right to make an "Official Thread" about other subject matter that is a "hot topic" and thus multiple threads being made about a given "hot topic" may be closed at the moderators discretion in order to keep the flow of discussion meaningful and prevent other topics from falling off the first few pages due to excitement over just one issue."

Gosh, how hard can it be to just follow the damn rules? If you really wanna share your opnions go to the thread.

I have played Morrowind and Oblivion the only two I have had access to. Opinion shanges nothing ehh, I know people who would declare to that.

2. Cursing/Swearing is not allowed.

We do not allow any bad language on these forums. Swearing, even with asterisks, intentionally misspelling, omitting letters, other characters replacing letters or any other form of avoidance is not permitted. Doing so will result in a warning for bypassing the autocensor. In addition, if your post contains close to nothing but [censored] tags, it too can be considered excessive swearing and be cause for a warning
I can play that game as well, I openly went against what I thought was wrong and it was that very rule you just spelled out. I am done arguing in this idiotic conversation coming form a personal opinion.

Typo didnt mean to put PS3 twice. PC users would enjoy or dislike it as much as any other player.

And where did I curse?
Look, just do it man. It won't hurt you. The only thing you get from spamming the forums with these topics is a warning and if you continue a ban.

I would definitely play multiplayer. It doesn't work with how we play the single player game though so it'd need to be changed. The way TheElderPrime describes would work fine I think. However, I'm reluctant to say I would want multiplayer because it could (would) take away time spent improving other things e.g adding more quests. If Skyrim was amazing and I had no complaints, and there was a multiplayer mode I would welcome it like a slightly weird cousin. Still cool but not what TES is about.

Also, BGS say they don't make multiplayer games so asking for it is pointless in my opinion.

Agreed but Bethesda needs to step out of their comfort spot in my opinion and just try it. Maybe an Open Beta.

Multiplayer could be fun, but not in the way as it is described above. If it's created, it should be made to fit the atmosphere, it should be immersive etc. Don't make "minigames" for it that are just about competition, we already have way too many games like that and it doesn't fit The Elder Scrolls. Full cooperation mode might work, as long as the interaction with the world is also made fit for it.

Would ruin the game. If TES5 turns out to be online all of my excitement will have been for naught. I like TES games the way they are, immersive, interactive and OFFLINE.

There is a mmo thread in the Elder Scrolls series forum.

There is a co-op thread here. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1150059-the-engine-and-possible-co-op/

There won't be dozens of separate threads about this; given how strongly people feel about this, it is far easier to keep everything in one place.
