TES4LL + TES4LODGEN performance hit?

So if I'm reading readmes correctly, I should be using the first for creating distant land meshes, and the second for creating distant land textures.
I'm using Xerus' landscape lod textures so tes4lodgen would require an additional step with nconvert to convert those to BMP format

is it ultimately worth it in your experience? I'm running most UL mods and lots of mods that add stuff to the world ( villages and questmods ) , so far without using these programs I've noticed a couple floaters here and there but nothing terrible.

since the game runs very well and I'm keen on keeping it this way, I'm curious to know what others think about this utilities: ease of use, possible issues created, performance hit...

all in all it seems like using only tes4ll would save me some headache and still get the job done, but I'm not sure if that would work out allright :/

thanks in advance for your help
