Preordered F3 but need help with wannamingos on F1

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:02 am

Hi ,

I ordered fallout 3, I only started playing fallout 2 a couple of weeks ago, now I love the series. Despite the fallout 2 graphics I LIKE the fact I am stuck at a part and maybe need to rethink my character build in another game. Anyway I am under these gravestones fighting these wannamingo things, I have some armour on, probably the early stuff and I have 1 other character in my party with no armour an a pistol that fires 10mm rounds. I also have pistols and a shot gun but I am really struggling to kill these wannamingos for a quest so I was wandering , how could I best fight these things?

I have read to shoot them in the legs but they aint going down fast enough also I believe my small arms is 100% or just over but I am really struggling so any help would be appreciated on anything from this quest or stats

Thanks

btw cant wait until the 31st , man if d2d releases early please pm me lol

One other thing I may as well add is that I have been picking up books but I dont know how to use or read these books? My friend who has an xbox says they increase stats but i dont know how to read them in fallout 2 also as a last resort if I do have to reroll I would appreciate an essential concise set of points on stats for a decent character

Cheers!

Hi there. It's good to hear of new people playing the old classic. I am too actually.

You shouldn't have to make a new character. You just have to remember that some fights are just too hard, and you just have to leave and come back when you're a higher level and better armed. As I recall a flamer did the trick. But I didn't do that bit until I had Marcus from Broken Hills.

So my advice would be just come back to it.

Sorry it's not much help.

If you do reroll I can recommend the Gifted trait that adds a +1 to each of your stats at the cost of some skill points which I find well worth it. Also the Small Frame trait which means you can't carry as much but you get a +1 to agility, which is good. You've got Sulik to carry your stuff anyway.

With the books you open your inventory, right click so you have the little arrow with the binoculars, hold down the left mouse button on the book so the little list of icons appears and select the use icon, which is an upturned open hand. If you're doing that and it still doesn't work I don't know what's wrong.

shoot them in the eyes!

Personally, i would wait a while to clear this place out. Normally i only do it after getting Power Armour and a nice shiny gun.

ACtually that REALLY helps thanks :)

You see I read various forums and saw about shooting them in the legs and my logic went something like if I cant defeat these things now I wont handle the rest, I did think about comming back later but I will definatly do that now, noted about shooting in the eyes also :))

Yeah in regards to me playing old games, well I got into PCs kinda later in life although I have had computers from time to time throughout my days like the old atari 65xes and then an amiga and then when I was in my late teens bought a PC then became obssesed lol . I saw all the good graphics and had the childhood I couldnt afford to have lol amd now Im at the stage Im realising graphics and shaders are detracting badly from content and its like I can kinda see the negative side to fancy graphics now that I have quite decent PCs so for the last year or two I have been really appreciating some of the difficulty and depth of the older games and realising gameplay comes first and graphics and audio samples dont make a game.

Im still looking forward to F3 :) and havent played it so that aint no dig at that just a general observation of how I see games now , I reckon Im also in the minority when I say the storyline for morrowing was better than oblivion or maybe its because thats when I was getting into rpgs? who knows hehe :)

Either way I am loving some of the older stuff and btw gametap has fallout 1 listed as free, I am just about to install it after downloading it but I am left wandering what the catch is since it has games like x2 listed as free as well and it sounds to good to be true , has anyone used that before?

Either way thanks for the help all, it is very useful!

Update:

Here just got fallout 1 legally free from gametap not sure if it will cut off or something but it seems quite a bit more serious storytelling from the start in comparison to F2 and the graphics look immense considering how old the game is , I think I will like F1 as well btw, really surprised
