What will you be playing Skryim on?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:39 am

Xbox 360 at first, cause that's what I have. But I need a new computer anyway, so I may wait a bit then get a good enough PC to play Skyrim on. I really enjoyed Morrowind on computer so I'd like a repeat of that.

actually one of my friends just mentioned something that kinda of changes the outcome of this poll. 11.11.11 is an entire year away and that is assuming they dont push back the launch date further. how many people will still be using their consoles for their primary gaming?

i remember at the end of the PS2 era people becoming frustrated with the huge difference between PCs and consoles and games for a while started becoming more PC centric like half life 2 and doom 3 and the quake games. PC sales increased and then we saw the release of the new consoles shortly after that. could this happen again? PS3 and 360 are 5 years old now and really show their age. how many people will have bought or built a computer by the time this game is released? you can build a really good gaming computer now for less than $800 bucks and it will only get cheaper in the near future.

ive converted some of the people i know into PC gamers so i dont see why this wouldnt be a bigger trend.

If companies keep making games for these systems, then I don't see Microsoft and co. upgrading their consoles any time soon.

Eh, you got mods, but I'm a firm supporter of controllers. Just something weird about having one hand spread out while the other clutches a small oval/weird shape mouse. But hey, to each his own.

There is an app plug-in for that. I haven't seen too much of it, but I know you can plug in your Xbox 360 controller into your computer somehow.

As for me, I really want to play this on the PC, but I'll need a new PC first. Barring that, I'll probably end up playing this on the box.

Can't vote since i haven't decided yet. I bought Oblivion to XBOX 360. Eventually i wanted to try Morrowind aswell and sought the original XBOX GOTY version. Unfortunately it was impossible to find so i settled for the PC version. This time, i'm more interested in the PC version but as i said, i haven't decided yet. It will depend on things like System requirements, joypad support and DRM.

Demographics go along the lines of PC>Xbox 360>PS3 on these forums.

I will be playing the PS3 version, and the PS3 is already my main platform.

PC because I love modding and morphing/tweaking the world.

And also because I want to get it for PC even if there aren't mods, for some odd reason.

What are you talking about ? The PS3 is about 3 years old, not 5. And seriously it's not even close to showing it's age, it's the superior console out there.

On the lines of this, it makes me wonder if they are going to have extensive support for a controller in the PC game. I know quite a few PC games nowadays come with almost mandatory support for some kind of gamepad, usually the 360 controller (especially if the game is also on the 360). I know that the Oblivion had some Gamepad support. (Can't remember if it was actually good or not, didn't use it.)

I can agree with your need for a controller. I've found that I enjoyed playing my PC games a lot more with a controller, but only when the controls aren't complicated. Seeing as this is going to be on the consoles as well, their control scheme shouldn't be complicated, so that's not really a worry. But that makes me wonder if they are going to do the same thing as in Oblivion where the game was made more for consoles than PC, as the UI was totally borked in our version of the game. Couldn't play it without some kind of UI mod.

But yah, I'll be playing on the PC for this one. This way, if there's something I don't like about the game, odds are, someone will fix it, or I will be able to fix it myself. Mods can do wonders.

somebody else posted its 4 years old which actually sounds about right. PS3 games look very dated now and checking out some youtube videos will easily show you the difference between PC and PS3. you have a very small amount of RAM which limits how good the textures are. we have gone through 3 different generations of graphics cards since the consoles came out and each generation is twice as powerful as the previous one. the PS3 might indeed be better than the 360 but its a far cry from a PC. thats like three different people owning different cars. one has a dodge, one has a yugo and another one has a lexus. sure the dodge guy can say that his car is better than the yugo, but its not even close to a lexus.

as for controllers the 360 controller just plugs into a USB port and you dont need to configure anything. i have a logitech rumblepad controller that is basically just a playstation controller which i use from time to time for my snes and genesis games.

Daft question, PC of course!

I have never and never will own a console, I despise them. You can't beat the PC for power and performance and of course the modding for it adds significant bonus. A console has always represented dumbed down titles and comes across more as a toy to me rather than a gaming platform.

I fear Skyrim being made for one of the consoles and then being ported to the PC D:

Fixed that for ya ;)

Yea, I'll be playing PC. I don't own an Xbox or a PS3, and I can't handle RPGs with the controllers. Also, mods.

I'm awful at manuevering with a keyboard so I prefer the 360. However, I do miss out on mods. Crap
