Is Fallout 3 worth getting ?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:16 am

I know graphics dont allways play a huge role in VERY good story and gameplay based games

Is this game fun ? I mean I've heard my fair share about it and was wondering what its like and if i should purchase it ?

Thanks guys ;-)

The Graphics in fallout 2 are good. Stop juding the game by the standards of today. Compared to many games in 1999 such as Mechwarrior 3, there is more attention to texture and detail in game.

Last but not least: Graphics do not make the game(unless made in '08)

I am crap at really remembering, so i will copy from wikipedia:

"FallOut2 takes place in 2241, 80 years after the first Fallout. It tells the story of the original hero's descendant and his or her quest to save their primitive tribe from starvation by finding an ancient environmental restoration machine known as the "Garden of Eden Creation Kit", or GECK. Although featuring an almost completely new game world, stories, and adventures that are several times larger than its FallOut 1."

In all honesty I love all 3 of them, though the 3rd one could have a bit more grit with it. i.e. getting wierd karma perks when you do something, like become a porm Star in New Reno or a Grave Digger (Fall Out 2), that and being a vile SOB and blowing the little town kiddie's away.

fallout 2 was indeed awesome. i've always loved whats called 'isometric' view RPG's. fallout 2 carried the fallout torch well. i think you'd like it, even though the graphics are outdated by todays modern PC standards.

i liked fallout 1, 2, and i like fallout 3. i never got into fallout tactics; cant really explain why...just didnt hold my interest for some wierd reason.

Fallout 2 is my favorite, amazing game. The graphics really aren't bad unless you're playing in a high resolution that the game was never meant to be displayed in. It can't be terribly expensive these days either so definitely worth picking up.

I know GameTap.com has Fallout on there for free, not sure about Fallout 2 but it's worth checking into.

For me Fallout 2 was not as good as Fallout 1, there were a lot of elements which really just kind of were like Fallout on steroids (or rather buffout). There really were not too many new elements to the game aside from the story. You could even argue that it was close to a mod for Fallout with the Enclave soldiers just replacing super mutants.

The car was a nice touch but it made the game a little too quick to finish and when you think about how you start the game, as a uneducated native in a cloth thong, then the question of learning how to drive comes up a bit often. For me though, Vault City was the one area that really seemed to have no purpose except to piss you off. It was so easy to get kicked out of there for good! With regards to the storyline, it wasn't really fantastic once you got to it. Killing the president wasn't all I was hoping it'd be cranked up to be. There was TONS of six, you could be a porm star or even sleep with someone of the same six if you desired.

FO1 and 2 are available at GOG and Gametap. Legally of course.

remember everyon that piracy is bad and supports communism (50's style joke, not political).

Its some time since Fallout 2 was published and there was some work done on modding/patching it. If you decide to buy and play it, you can look at some mods/unofficial patches out there. I would recommend you these:

Fallout 2 Restoration Project ...which fixes lots of bugs left after last official patch plus add back to game all context which was included during game creation but was left out when game was published. And there were good many things left, whole locations including.

Fallout2 High Resolution Patch ...which lets you play on higher resolution + adds some small touches like mouse scrolling.

Both of them do not change game itself but offer much greater experience playing it.

You can find them and many other at http://www.nma-fallout.com http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=category&cat_id=4.
