Woohoo, I bought my trilogy today :p

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:02 pm

Ok so I was browsing for this today whilst in town and to my suprise I found a white label bundle :) In spite of my Fallout veteranism, I actually don't have my copy of FO1, haven't for years >_< And I've never actually played Tactics beyond a demo, the only answer I have for that is, I never got around to it :P Loving the artwork for it though. So I'll be enjoying that later.

But I saw another game whilst browsing, y'see you don't expect to see many games on the bargain shelves that aren't the result of a re-release. So they stand out. It's called "Hard to be a God" and I've never heard of it, which in my strange non-sensical way, meant it might be good (not 100% smart way to purchase but it has its moments) I don't even recognise the developers. I mean I actually wanted Bioshock until I heard it mentioned far too many times than I would like to notice (I know, it's stupid but I've always been like that, me and hype go together like oil and water) so I picked this over that. Bioshock was too on the bargain shelves o_O But whatever, it was 2 games for ?15 and I knew Bioshock would hang around for a while longer.

Has anyone played Hard to be a God? I don't really want any info on it, just curious. I haven't installed it yet, and might give Tactics a thorough play-through before I do.

And there you have it, 2mins of your life veritably wasted :)

I'm listening to Children of Bodom's Follow the Reaper by the way...Incase anyone..y'know, cares. Shut up, I'm in a good mood for no reason :)

Wow, you're the second one I've seen to recommend this game of these forums. This game intrigues me...

Recommend? What? Hard to be a God? Well I haven't played it yet, haven't even got it installed :P I was just intrigued because I'd never heard of it, my first knowledge of it was in the store today, and that's usually what piques my interest (in the weird way it does).

Hard to be a God has some pretty awful graphics and gives me a headache due to the third person being zoomed out too far,
which makes the rest of the screen move around wierdly and gives me headaches trying to keep up with the screen.

The story is pretty strange and make sure you use plenty of saves there's a few quest bugs I ran into

But if you got it for cheap then I guess it's OK, you can make the most of it,
I just got tired of it

Yeah, someone posted on here awhile ago asking for recommended TB/ISO games. He remembered liking one, but couldn't remember the name, only that it ended with "God." He did some searching and found out it was Hard To Be A God, and that he really liked it or something. The thread was logically moved to Community Discussion after that. :P

But anyway, back on topic. Fallout Tactics = awesome. More SPECIAL development and TB combat than you can shake a stick at. :tops:

SNIP

Hmm, well thankyou for the insight. Graphics really aren't a problem for me, I'm 'old skool/retro' like that :P

I know it's hard to judge a game by looking at the screenshots on the back of the box, but I did get the idea of a stange story, something about a world being trapped in the medieval era, I can see some kindof story unravelling to do with the secrets of technology being hidden away, or something..Maybe I should play the game before I get ahead of myself :P

As for bugs, I scope out patches for games before I play them, hopefully I'll find some for this, but we'll see.

Ah ok, so HtbaG is TB/ISO? I guess I kinda lucked out there :P I'll be looking forward to satisfying my curiosity :)

Heheh, well I vaguely remember Fallout: Tactics demo being my first taste of the Fallout franchise, and it sticks in my mind well, I remember the engine being alot 'juicier' than previous titles :P But more SPECIAL development you say? I've never heard that one before, sounds good :) I did like the option of TB/RT in Tactics, I remember finding RT difficult in the demo, but I was 13 at the time so maybe I'll grasp it a little better now :P

I expected this "Hard to be a God" to be som-a-sorta world simulation, instead of a medieval RPG..

Maybe that's why it didn't sell so much :P As far as I know the companies involved are very european oriented, to my great annoyance, because I can't get past the damn info screen because of a gamebreaking anomaly :P And because all the support forums are Russian, I can't ask the appropriate people xD

But I've posted on a general support forum, and I hope to make some progress today :P

Considering the game was apparently barely play-tested, it's impressive how well it plays. There's some issues with recruit balance but since you get the editor with the patch you can fix those yourself however you like. I like the new stuff like the Reavers and the Beastlords too.

Barely play-tested? I really need to read up about Tactics :P I have an editor, I think that came with the install (there's some handy bonus/patch content with this White Label re-release, very useful) ^_^ But I wasn't sure what 'exactly' it was (game builder or what) so I've left it alone for now.

The first I heard of Beastlords was with Fallout: Warfare(?) it doesn't sound very Fallout-ie to to me :P Though I can see the overwhelming appeal for the devs to include it, who doesn't want a pack of deathclaws at their disposal?? Haven't bumped into these guys yet, still on the first mission...xD. It doesn't bother me though, I appreciate this tactical overhaul mission based style :) And it's a challenge which is VERY fresh considering I'm right at the beginning of the game ^_^ I did set it to hard almost immediately though, I've never done that with a Fallout game (except 3 but we know the issues with difficulty in that one) so this is a refreshing adjustment :)
