Question about a possible mod

Post » Fri May 18, 2012 7:33 am

Ok, so I have two questions and I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I'm returning to PC gaming (part-time, I still love my Xbox) and I've just bought Oblivion and Skyrim for my laptop (it has the specs to run both just fine, so don't worry about that).

1) I know it works for Skyrim, but does the Oblivion GOTY Deluxe (off of Steam) support an Xbox 360 controller hooked up to the PC?

2) I've looked around the Oblivion Nexus (maybe I'm wording my search wrong), but I can't find if there's an HD textures package for Oblivion. I DL'd the HD textures for Skyrim, I was wondering if there was one for Oblivion (seeing as how my laptop has enough juice to run Oblivion on Ultra, I think I'll be ok... ;)).

Any help that the community could give me would be very much appreciated.

1) nope , but check UESP wiki for how to configure Xpadder for it.

2) you want QTP3: Redimized and Bomret's for shivering isles. also get Xerus' landscapes textures for the distant landscape to go with it.

also excellent is the vibrant distant lod package by CorePC, it's not hires though.

I'm also a fan of Mikal's works, doors and flora and trees and flora 1 and 2 are fantastic. check screenies. those beatiful flowers... O.O

let us know if you need more help, I had to fiddle with Xpadder a bit to get it to work to my liking. I'd recommend NOT TO add the directional arrows to any button, it might cause you to close messageboxes as soon as they pop up by mistake, which is very annoying.

also I had to add the "run" control to each movement direction (WSAD) to be able to run diagonally ( without this tweak I could only walk diagonally, this was VERY ANNOYING ) . it has the side effect that you can only walk slowly, as if you try to walk faster you'll actually be running slowly ( might not be a big issue for you but I use mods with fatigue loss from running, also bad for sneaking ) . still better than the alternative though, and my back and eyes love the couch+HDTV instead of the chair

what else... at some point I started to get DING sounds when pressing block and attack together ( because block is ALT by default and ALT+M plays a DING sound. I changed block to B in oblivion's controls and everything's fine. this is very recommended, otherwise trying to open the inventory while blocking means ALT+TAB and the game likes to freeze when you do that  )

if you add a mod that lets you sprint ( like sneak detection recalibrated for example which is awesome ) , you can set your left bumper to X and use that to sprint like in Skyrim which is nice. I've then got rid of third person toggle, and I use the right stick click to grab ( which is actually useful with the excellent "put it in its place" mod )
