High expectations galore

41 pages. More than 1200 posts. Not a single screenshot has been released so far.

I will grab my popcorn bag and just watch the forums with glee once this game is released.

Could a mod please sticky this thread? It's worth reading for sure.

Fallout 3 was Oblivion with guns. Skyrim will be Fallout: New Vegas with swords.

No. No more than any of the other threads on the 41 pages will be stickied.

Yeah, the forum is exploding at the minute - a lot of repetition too. :( Everyone is looking forward to screenshots and more information but I am pretty sure it is going to be next month before we hear and see anything else.

Hehe, I was just teasing you people into discussing the level of expectation we see in this forum. I know it is pretty much obvious that such an awaited game would generate this kind of reaction once it was announced, but sometimes I feel that things are kinda getting out of control. People expect the moon and the stars and when the game is released there is so much angry and cries and desperation that the forums become a warzone for at least two months.

I'm just being the good an' old devil's advocate and saying that this can't be good. ;)

The majority of expectations are self induced. People convince themselves that the game is going to follow a certain path, that their wishes and expectations are going to come true - and it never lives up to their dreams. Whatever happens it is going to be a super game, probably be the game of the year and sell in the millions.

I hope there is no "warzone" when we get the game - fortunately it will be only the very few people (as compared to the number that actually buy it) who will complain on these forums. At least it keeps us poor moderators busy. :toughninja:

I wouldn't say that expectations are high, I would say that excitement is high. After Oblvion my expectations aren't very high. I want to see what we are going to get before getting my expectations up.

it's funny
I was reading the imperial library third ed article on skyrim, and the first sentence said something like "it's said that every vista in skyrim you see will be looking over a battlefield"
and I can just see that same line being posted a thousand times with the same whining we got about oblivion '[censored]' the lore of cyrodil and the reposting of that paragraph on the imperial city and about cyrodil being a jungle

Like New Vegas, I literally have low expectation until I play the game, hoping at least the game would go back to what the game should be, a real Fallout game. I bet the same for Skyrim. I have little expectation for this game due to what Beth did to Oblivion. I hope, again it would go back in the structure of Morrowind or Daggerfall, or at least, Shivering Isle.

Fallout 3 was Oblivion with guns. Skyrim will be Fallout: New Vegas with swords.

Yep. That sounds about right.

Been here before. Beth talks in riddles, fans grasp any straw they can find that re-enforces their dreams while hotly refuting any assumption that counters their wishes. Some are happy come release, the majority have something to moan about and the remainder are very upset.

Beth do have the the most entertaining on-line component of any game developer. Many thanks in retrospect and advance to all the moderators for allowing open debate while doing their best to keep some semblance of order :)
