Video Capture during free-play?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:14 pm

I thought of this idea while i was playing JUST CAUSE 2 the other day, because you can kinda do anything in just cause 2 they enabled the ability to capture a video of what your doing in the game for like 10 minutes or something. So I was wondering if we could (mainly for free - play) capture video of us pulling out crazy moves with our flipping awesome characters OR SOMETHING. Just sayin it would be pretty awesome if we had this feature in BRINK.

PS: Brink is going to be freakin epic.
PSS: to lazy to comment on Female character dlc thread, So I support the dlc idea.

Sorry, think I've defined the question a little better.

On PC, no problem, it's just software, on consoles I believe it's a hardware issue, up to Sony and MS in that case

On the console can't you just feed the component into a DVR? Or CVBS into a VCR heh. Or start the ridiculous discussion of spending $100's on capture hardware for a desktop PC. They always get ridiculous since if you're spending so much on a PC you might as well just play it on the PC.

An ability to view it later in both first and third person would be so cool. Just flow between you running in first person, switching to third as you launch from ledge to ledge. Third as you slide under a table, switch into first in time to see you unload on an enemy.

no need for capture hardware on PC. idtech 3 and 4 both have it built into engine, or you could use FRAPS, the engine also allows 3rd person view

Ive never been all that interested in screen recording. Its nice when you manage to get a video of you dominating, but recording every single game to capture those moments is a bit of a pain and a waste of hard drive space. Not to mention that recording tends to destroy my frame rate :/

But I can see how people who have the skill, patience, and a good enough computer could have a lot of fun making compilations

Since Uncharted 2 and GTA IV there is a clear definition of what a good machinima mode looks like. And I wish more games had some, because user videos are probably the best advertise for a game.
