abot's Waterlife

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:15 am

On my last install of Morrowind I has this mod as well and never ever ever saw either of the two things mentioned above. I even e-mailed abot about it.

Now on my second install it's the same thing. Are these two things just incredibly rare?
I configured my Water Life ring and swam with no console modification from Seyda Neen to Solstheim and never saw a whale or emperor crab palace.
All the other fish spawn fine (Orcas, sharks, octopi, sea turtles ect)
I'm at a loss here.
Also ran abots pluggin through the Pluggin Conflict Detector against all my other mod and no conflicts showed.

I think its just rare. I've never encountered any underwater palaces, but I think I've seen a whale... once.

I saw what I believe was an Abot's Waterlife underwater palace.....once in several years of play. I also saw a duo of killer whales jumping in sync in the canols between the Vivec cantons. Their dives between the leaps out of the water took them entirly beneath the floor of the bay; it looked pretty weird under those circumstances. Never spotted a "regular" whale, however.

I've seen regular whales pretty commonly up north of Dagon Fel, but honestly I'm not sure why, I don't think that the mod uses standard lvl'd lists to spawn creatures, so it may just be an odd occurence that they happen to spawn up there pretty often for me......

Some waterlife is very rare, and others are very localized. Don't expect to find whales off the coast of Seyda Neen, for example.

This is what I was beginning to suspect.
I'll keep my eyes peeled when in other areas then. :)

Have you used the 'Water Life Ring' placed in your inventory to configure the mod?

The default is to 'Spawn whales' and 'Spawn water palaces / emperor crab shells' anywhere, but those can be restricted to 'Wilderness only'.

I have frequent encounters with whales of all sizes by going into the underwater wilderness regions and letting Abot WL work its magic . Earlier today , I was encountering Blue Whales , Sperm Whales and Orca's ,oh , and the Underwater Palace . If anything , I don't get to see turtles very often . I don't use level list mergers nor any of the Script Extenders or Graphics extender . Point of fact , its never been an issue and I'm surprised by this topic : I had no idea it was unusual . I run Water Life ver. 1.15 . I haven't touched the rings supplied and even have cursed the Whales from preventing me from harvesting some algae and other reagents ( they're large enough to " hijack " the activate command if they're in close proximity. ). So head to sea and let it happen . Oh , I almost always encountered a Underwater Palace near to Darkshroud Keep . Don't know why unless there was some unusual mod to mod voodoo at work . Happy hunting !

Since this got bumped, here's a tiny update.

I have since encountered some Blue Whales in the region north of Dagon Fel.
Still no palaces though.

It was mentioned that you are unlikely to see a whale near Seyda Neen; my first encounter with water life was a whale that was seemingly trying to beach itself on the lighthouse there!

I could be mistaking this for another mod that added water life, but it was about 3 years ago when I last had a fully loaded mod list!

from what i understand from the read me Abot's water life places the water life by scripts not level lists or being hand placed.

Well why don't you just ADD them in the construction set somewhere near Solstheim so you can see them.
