Poor Earth

I doubt our world will become like Fallout 3 due to the fact their wont be super mutants and deathclaws.........................but if you mean the world just got destroyed like Fallout then i think its possible.

We've faced nuclear devastation before from the Russians over a radar fluke, if I recall correctly. The Russian leader was presented "the button" and luckily enough, he was drinking and decided not to press it.

It is possible that maybe a few high-profile nations might face a nuclear fate, but Earth as a whole will not turn into a nuclear wateland.

Maybe not today but what about tomorrow. When resources will be running low and countries will be trying to get their hands on it.

I have a feeling a great many of us will see the Great War happen. Political tensions now are pretty strained, especially with NK making all these bratty little plays for attention and the mid east causing the usual bruhaha. Not only that but resources are starting to get tight and they're pondering new fuel technologies for cars. Along with Robots, we can't forget about little Asimo. I'd equate them to about what it was like in the early 2250's.

I know one thing. There's probably a Fallout fan somewhere that's trying to start Vault-Tec before anyone else. I'd love to do it myself.

I have faith we'll nuke ourselves to Oblivion and the world will be done.

Can I choose which realm? I hear the Shivering Isles are lovely this time of year.

There will probably be a World War 3, but not a nuclear apocalypse. People are smart enough not to destroy the earth..

Will the world turn back into what it is today?
- Highly Unlikely, after what has happened, If it ever does it will take centuries. Civilization will have to rebuild itself completely.

Will the world ever turn into how it is in Fallout?
- Looking at the way things are going these days in world affairs, the idea isn't too far fetched. I'd give it another generation or two.

agreed comrade.

That's in a long time. By then we might have moved to Mars or one of Jupiter's moons that have frozen water on them. But due to the bigger and hotter sun; it would've melted.

The Earth will be doomed before that. The Sun will be much brighter and hotter. Slowly killing the Earth.

Earth will be completely inhabitable in 10,000,000 years. But obviously Humans would be what we imagine aliens today in that time. Anyways the Earth still has tons of fuel, I guarantee you guys the next war will be for Antarctica. Considering it has massive amounts of fossil fuel. Even though many country's have agreed to use it for science purposes, they can leave the treaty at anytime, and then, weepee here goes the Freezing War. Anyways in a post-apocalyptic event, the radiated area will soon get back all its vegetation. Chernobyl for example is like an overgrown ghost town. So the fact that in FO3, the wastelands have remained the way they are for 200 years is unrealistic, its like saying our blood is blue! Some person said before the Earth will turn into Mars, he/she was actually right. In millions of years all the continents will re-form a super-continent again. This will create a massive desert where there will be no water for plant life and animals alike. Not even in the shores.(salt water duh..) So after that the sun goes into its Red giant form, and the Earth loses all its life except some algae. Mars also (just a highly supported theory) had life, and for a fact had Oceans, and rivers. Every planet has a doom. Another possible theory is when the moon leaves the Earths orbit, we die. (the moon draws further away from the Earth every year.)

Now for the 2012 theory, (fact) there will be a galactic alignment, which is when the Sun aligns with the center of the galaxy. And whats even more strange is that all the planets align with the sun too. This is a Grand Alignment, all the tugging on the sun will cause insane solar flares. This all happens in late 2012-early 2013. More specifically, in December 2012!

There has been a incredibly high amount of mass extinctions in Earths history. We, are long, long overdue for one.

Now getting back on topic, there are plenty of facts that prove we will enter a nuclear war,( if we don't die out before a few years) and even more facts to prove that a post-apocalyptic event will return to a nature-filled environment in a few years. unless you naturally live in a desert!

That galactic alignment has happened many times before and the Earth is still looking great. Nothing that big will happen in 2012. Maybe a lot of natural disasters. The Earth has faced many extinctions but always has recovered. The 10million sounds a bit too early. I'm pretty sure the Earth will still contain some species such as humans for another billion years.

Well, if no one goes into vaults and survives.... we are all dead. mutations (break down of vital organs), if we get enought protected we would become sterile (no more future generations).

And the Earth would grown back...eventually.

The majority of wasteland dwellers do not originate from vaults.

It is true, our blood is blue. It becomes red upon oxygenisation of it. Go back to school bro.

Own advice perhaps?
Whole blood is not blue. It is either bright red (with oxygen) or dark red
(without oxygen). Skin pigments and blood vessel coverings often make the
blood seem bluish when looking at vessels on the skin.

I really wish I had time to read everything posted on here, but I don't.

Anyway:

Yes, something will likely eventually happen to make the Earth similar to Fallout (for at least some period of time) ;
No, the Earth would not recover to be like it is today.

Its a fact that mass-extinction events have occurred throughout Earth's history. If it isn't caused by us, that doesn't change the fact that there is a good probability it will happen again. In a mass-extinction event, you can expect somewhere between 90-99% extinction.

Eventually the Earth would recover; however, that doesn't mean it would be like it is now. Different chains of evolution and all of that, plus humans likely wouldn't be around in great numbers, if at all. That last part is debatable though, we are fairly inventive when we have to be.

Mars is only the way it is because the core of the planet cooled. No molten metal=No magnetic field. No magnetic field=No atmosphere. The atmosphere of Mars was stripped away by radiation coming off the Sun, once Mars' magnetic field dissipated. Eventually, this too will happen to the Earth. Quite a ways off though. Makes any prospects of colonizing Mars seem like a fantasy, at least on a large scale. There would be no protection provided on the surface.

I really care for the Earth. As it is the only planet that can support life. Its unfortunate of what happens in Fallout but that's what makes it a good game. Anyway do you believe that this will happen to Earth one day? I believe it will. Eventually we will run out of resources such as gas and that will lead to World war 3. :cryvaultboy: Its only a matter of time. What do you think? Support your thesis!

My other question is "will Earth become as it is now after the event of Fallout?" It may but there is much more of a chance that it won't. Most of the species on Earth were whipped out after the bombings. Then again 99% of all species that ever lived on Earth have gone extinct and then have made a recovery. Though Earth will never be the same again. As every specie will be aggressive due to the radiation and trees and other plant life won't grow as big and green as it is now.

"As it is the only planet that can support life." -That we know of so far. But thats besides the point.

No it could never truly be the same, the creatures on earth as you said would mostly be extinct and the ones to survive would take over evolving into their new environments, thus changing the flora and fauna and the biotic factors of the ecosystem together in and of itself.

Not so sure wether the mountain ranges or sea currents would be changed in such ways, but the flora and fauna, and microorganisms definately.

Due to our exponential population growth it will and has lead to great resource wars. But ultimately would it lead to a nuclear devastation............well that I'm unsure of. But it could lead to to a brown earth through pollution and ecological devastation on its own sadly.

YES, I do think the world of Fallout could, one day, be like the world we know today. It may take hundreds of years, maybe even thousands, but believe me, knowing that humanity came from nothing, the Fallout world is nothing, with a little from today. IF everyone would stop fighting and killing each other, then yes, the world would be able to rebuild, maybe not build into what we know today, but something similar.

YES, I do think that what happened in Fallout could happen, and most likely, WILL happen because the U.S. is arrogant like that. They care more about themselves than anyone else. Just look at the news, you'll see. Anyways, I hope it doesn't happen soon, but then again, I hope it doesn't EVER happen. EVER!

Q: Do you think that the Earth will ever be what it is now, after the event of Fallout?
A: Yes. In the 80 years between Fallout 1 & 2, civilization has been rapidly returning to the wasteland. Nation-states such as the NCR was formed and law and progress has been reintroduced but the large parts of the core region. Some independent settlements such as Vault City and the Shi Town has achieved a really high standard of living compared to the ones in the first game. Also, their medical technology is advance enough to let a person live to the age of almost 100 and still have a clear mind (Tandi) or even transforming someone into a semi-cyborg. So it is only a matter of time before the world totally recovers, but even so, it will never be the same.

Q: Do you think that Earth will become like FO3 one day?
A: No. If by "like FO3" you mean a world with giant monsters or power armor then it is impossible. But if you mean a nuclear war, then it is possible, but highly unlikely as countries don't have anything to gain from MAD. And we humans as a race is learning from our mistakes in the past. Just look at ourselves 70 years ago. Back then it is completely acceptable to fire bomb a major city during a war. Now it isn't.

I do not think the Earth would ever get back to the state it is in. But I don't think it would ever be like Fallout 3 due to what I believe in my religion. Which I will not discuss.
