Creating a new Count/Countess of Bravil

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:17 am

Well if I'm correct, since I havn't tried yet, you can kill the Count of Bravil. I did it in my PS3 version but I don't know if the patches corrected this on the PC version. So assuming that I can and based on the story I created (that involves the skooma trade and The Elder Council taking action with it) , I want to make a new count or countess for Bravil. So I know how to make an NPC but how can I make that new character to act like the Count (sit on the throne, go to dinner, be able to go into the private quarters, ect.)?

Your help is greatly appreciated. :)

Well, I don't think there's a way to do this without scripting it(scripting is pretty hard to learn, from my experience and attempts, but you should probably try and see if you fare better.), but there are some mods out there which allow NPCs to pose. That might help. You could always try becoming count yourself :P

Well there must be somewhere that teaches you the basics of scripting. And could you lead me in the direction of those mods. I'd like to check them out to see if it'll help. Anyway, my character doesn't have the time to be the count. I hope we can all understand that plus the things added with mods such as TEC and Origin of the Mages Guild.

*sigh* I was hoping for an easy task. Like just creating an Npc and attaching the Count's script to them. But I'm new to the CS so I didn't even know how to do that or if it was even possible.

But thanks a bunch. ^_^

Actually no scripting is required in such tasks most of the time. All you need to do is to create specific and proper AI Packages for the new count, possibly the same or similar as those used by the true count.
If you want to know more on the subject just browse through articles on this http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Portal:AI - in particular http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Basic_NPC_Creation_Tutorial, http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Basic_NPC_Patrols_Tutorial, http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Category:Packages, and http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Flags_on_Packages should be useful (especially the sections about AI and packages in the first two).

ok so since I'm creating a new Count for Bravil, could I just find Regulus Terentius in the NPC list, save him as a new NPC and edit him from there? And doing so, will that let me use all his AI packages, and avoid having to make AI packages for the new one, so the new Count (or Countess, havn't decided yet) will just act like the original?

Yes, that would be the easiest way. Though it is always good to have a look at each package whether it is "generic enough" to be used by the new copy of that NPC. For the most time they are indeed.

Thanks. :D Now when I kill the Count, well through consol command so it looks like he commited suicide, I can now make a replacement. I hope to take this to a more larger scale. Make it into a quest with different eligible counts and countesses and its up to the player to decide who it should be. I'll probably add some other stuff so it's not too boring. When I'm able to do that and have hopefully successfully done it, then I'll upload it to TES Nexus. I havn't found any mods that adds a new count once the original dies, so I hope I'll be the first to do so unless someone beats me to it.

But until then, thanks everyone for helping me. I really appreciate it. Now I understand the CS much better and can use it to do other things. So, again, thanks. I really appreciate it . ^_^
