What Races do you want in the next Elder Scrolls Game

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:48 pm

I want all races to return and I really don't want any races added. I don't there to be an abundance of races to play as to the point where each race loses their uniqueness and charm that they have compared to eachother.

I'm okay with the races we got. But we could bring back the Ohmes race.

Absolutely this.

They need to be more distinct, both visually and in abilities, attribute bonuses, and skill bonuses.

I disrespectfully disagree.

I would prefer if they stayed with the races they have, and simply add more voices.

I originally found the idea of new races exciting as well, but I soon came to realise it wouldn't be such a good idea. It would be better for Bethesda to focus on and refine the races we already have, and new races means that they need even more voice acting for each line in the game, which means less space, which in turn means less interesting dialogue. I wouldn't mind seeing a different race, but as a playable character? No.

Looking at Oblivion, they should fix the ones they have before they start adding any more. I want my gravel-voiced Dunmer back! The VA was in Fallout 3, so I can only hope he'll be in TESV.

I like the races they already have.

Dunmer
Altmer
Bosmer
Orc (Orsimer, to some)
Redguard
Breton
Nord
Imperial
Khajiit
Argonian

They need to be more distinct, both visually and in abilities, attribute bonuses, and skill bonuses.

Depending on the location (Province) of the next game, I'd like to see at least two of the sub-species of Khajiit.

Or, at least more choices for physical variety (not just faces) - skin/fur/scale tone, height (tall, average, short), and body type (bulky, normal, slender).

GFT

The ten races we have are good enough, the lore behind them is rich and they have a potential to be very diverse and interresting. Beth should try to make the NPCs and even the PC to reflect the lore better, add more variety and overall concentrate on existing races.

I already posted, but I'll specify my opinion a bit more. The 10 we have now are fine. We do have a few other lesser races in Tamriel like the Imga, but unless Tamriel gets invaded by another land we should only be able to play as the normal 10 races. Maybe in a game set in Black Marsh or Elsweyr we could have the option to play as different variations of the Argonians and Khajiit, but that's it. If, however, Tamriel gets invaded or the game takes place somewhere other than Tamriel, then I would want the option to play as the race native to that land (you could play as a Sload in Thras, for example).

My preference is to keep it the way it is, but depending on the time and place maybe have subraces (like the Khajiit breeds, or splitting colovians and Nibenians). Although, if enough time passes and a reasonable background is given, some pre-existing races like Falmer or Ayleids may be worked in, but that would require a lot of work on their writing team, and they would be too functionally simillar to the Altmer. Maybe fleshing out the old races more first?

It really depends on the scope of the game, but I'd certainly want all the current game races included.

It'd be interesting to add the Khajiit sub-types, at least the bipedal ones (the enormous battlecat breeds would probably be way over the top).

Fix mounted combat, then add them as mounts?

That would be pretty awesome. It would have to be the regular Senche breed, because the Senche-Raht battlecat stands twice as high as an Altmer, that's got to be about 14ft tall, bigger than an elephant! I doubt those things are tolerated outside of Elsweyr.

I agree with your disagreement.

I think the races should have some bonuses to certain stuff, but they should be largely tabula rasa. Otherwise thats eugenics and racist. :stare:

But seriously, I think races should determine how npcs react and interact with you in addition to satisfying people's visual preferences for their characters. Other than that, I think they shouldn't favor any particular class (maybe culturally favor one, but not force the player to favor one; let the player choose their own bonuses [within reason]).

I want to play as my Nord stealth/combat hybrid who dabbles in magic without being at a gameplay disadvantage when compared to someone who plays as a pure-combat Nord character... :cold:

Tsaesci

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Tsaesci

While the lore suggests they are dead, I would rather like to see them come back.

I see them as humaniod on the top and snake on the bottom. Just a snake themed humanoid would make them too much like Argonians. They could make for a very very fun beast race with unusual armor requirements. Tail tip guard and chainmail sash anymone!
