Merchants?

Where the hell are the merchants?

I'm new to this game. I bought it because several friends recommended it. I just closed the gate in Kvatch and found Martin... or whatever his name is. The heir. The priest. Whatever, he's not the point. My inventory is full. That's the point. I have to keep picking crap to drop because... I can't find any merchants. There was one guy I talked to, he said he was "open for business" but there was no option to shop. wtf?

I'm level 1... which is another problem... how the f do I level up? I got a message that said I should "go outside and meditate" on my new skills or some such garbage. This is annoying. :sadvaultboy:

Hi.
At the refugee camp just south of Kvatch there are two merchants. Sigrid and I can't remember the other's name. Talk to them, then click over to the middle icon on your lower left (in the barter window). This starts the option of buying and selling. As you get good at selling crap, you can explore the haggle option, where you can make them like you through speechcraft, then you can get reduced prices on goods you purchase, and better returns on items you sell.

Look at your Major Skills Menu. When the red bar at the bottom is full, you have leveled up. To level up, you must sleep, just for one hour if you please, in an unoccupied bed, when you are safe.

Outside of Palonyria's Shop in the Imperial City Market District, on the little pavilion, are three open-topped grain sacks. Any open-topped grain sack will be safe for storage forever. I use those sacks as my base, until I can purchase a house.

There are vendors in every town. You can also buy from the Mage's Guild, and do not have to be a part of them to purchase spells and potions and various alchemical wonders.
Each town, except Kvatch, will generally have a general store, a weapons/armor dealer, Mage's Guild, sometimes spell guys and alchemy guys. Shop hours average between 9 am and 7 pm.

Sleep to level up... well, that's different.

This is very helpful. I guess I was missing that little icon you mentioned... I know I talked to everybody in that refugee camp.

Thank you!
