Best Follower In a Fallout Game

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:46 pm

Ok, just a little bit of food for though, who is the best follower (in your opinion) in a fallout game? Bearing in mind, NOT just fallout 3, all the others. And with that, i propose that CASSIDY, the hardcoe old man from the bar in vault city was the best, funniest, coolest follower ever, even though he didn't actually speak. Asking him what weapons he was proficient with was such a gem. Especially the parts about the spears and Brass knuckles, "just dont call me tribal or nuthin", priceless. And equipped with the right gear, he could stay with you all the way to the end, and indeed help in smashing Frank Horrigan to pieces and beyond after the game ends :) But of course everyone else will have a say. Just give me a good reason. Not just "Fawkes cos he has a gattling laser", try "Fawkes cos he screams at anything that attacks him". I leave it to you.

Got the Restoration Project? Gives Cassidy a talking head.

I liked him too the best in FO2. I never liked any FO1 follower since they svcked so bad.

It's all about Marcus and Goris. This is the reason I've NEVER done a playthrough with either of them :P

They seem so awesome it would just feel like such a cheat to bring them along for the ride :P Marcus is arguably weak in the endgame due to his inherent armour becoming redundant, but that's pretty much fixed with Killap's RP. Goris is an amazing NPC with sickening melee damage, and inherent armour similar to combat armour, whether it gets better as he levels up, I have no idea.

But I can see where you're coming from with Cassidy, he's a great out of the box small guns expert, and can pretty much rain on anyone early on provided he has the weapons. Don't give him melee though, he gets no strength bonuses. Small guns is where it's at. Not being able to give him chems can be considered a disadvantage, but I never used to get my NPCs high :P

Marcus is weak in all parts of the game. It's only two battles when he runs out of Minigun ammo and starts fistfighting the enemy.
Powerfist gives a boost, but that is recieved usually in late-game and then Marcus is just useless.

He died in Vault 15 in my game. Killed by a raider.

How can you deny Tycho like this.

Best followers:
1) Tycho
2) Cassidy
3) Vic
4) Charon

I'm not so sure. Marcus has great potential, for one he's a stage 5 character. And his special is pretty, um, special :P He excells in everything but charisma, naturally. Just give him a TPR or a Pulse Rifle if he keeps running out of minigun ammo, the ammo running out is your fault, really :P I've heard his inate armour increases on level up, but I'm keen to test the values myself. Plus with Killap's RP mod I'm keen to see what the end result of a stage 5 Marcus with Mutant armour will be :D

Sure Cassidy wins. I wish i had a limit break too :(

For me, Marcus tends to Vapourise Goris with a Plasma Rifle the second i put it in his hands. Infact, he seems to be the biggest danger in the game towards my party.

Fallout 1: Ian. I just think he's cool. Not too useful though.
Fallout 2: DEFINITELY Cassidy. With power armor and a Gauss rifle, he's a beast. Next in line would be Sulik. Dude tears the place up with a .223 or Ripper.
Fallout 3: Dogmeat. He's just so luvable :P Charon is pretty wicked too.

SNIP

Don't forget the legendary quote from Marcus!

"CHRIS AVELLONE LOVES YOU!" xD

That's one of the few quotes that sticks in my mind after 6 years :P

I really need to start using NPCs again >_<

Skynet cause you have to go through hell and be clever about it (wink-wink) to get him.

EDIT: I don't know what you guys are sayin'. Give Marcus the Bozar and you turn him into a meat grinder. Just stay out of his way and enjoy the carnage. Plus, he sings man.

Woah woah dudes next to no love for poor Sulik? No wonder he drinks "like a fish".
But yeah, Cassidy's the man... "*Cough* *Cough* Need...more...action points..." That made me laugh a good 5 mins at least.

Hehe, lots of votes for cassidy apparently, the people seem to dig :) i shoulda done a poll too. Although people also apparently dig Sulik, and yeh he was the man also. I must admit that i never really used him on mine, but when you meet him he does say some great s{!t. And he has a talking face, original. "We and I be glad to answer" with a nod to Ja and Rastafiri. Quality Stuff.
