What if there was a credible good guy regime? What would it

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:42 pm

So the Imperial Guard tends to annoy most people, and the Blades seem to routinely mess up. I want to create a good character that is a member of a more secretive faction. An organization of good guys that are highly trained, and handle special tasks. Something that would be equivalent to US Black Ops or British SAS. What would be a cool name for this that I could use for my class name?

To me most factions are more political than good vs evil in TeS, but there are many knightly orders getting set up in game..
So try Templer, Knight of the temple.. some psedu religion inspired tittle as they were keen on enhancing themselves in real life.
Or on a more Oblivion theme try along the lines of Chapter of the Council an orginisation made up to keep the intrests of the council and empire rather than just the emperors like the blades.

Be a Knight of the Nine. When my Mage is finished, I'm going to be a Knight of the Nine and do the associated GOTY quest.

A Knight of the Order of Akatosh, perhaps?

Ah, yes. That faction's official name is Order of the Hour, in Daggerfall.

If you're a Redguard, you can always be an Ansei. They're pretty much the SAS of their race.

Unfortunately, what you're looking for are the Blades. But if that's not the flavor of your tea, you can "create" your own faction.

Assuming "secrecy" ... well, like U.S. Black Ops or the British SAS are so secret no one knows about them ... :) ... well, Knights would be out of the question because they are too public. This would be a group that everyone would "know" about but no one would "know anything" about. Like the KGB or parts of the CIA. They would be urban legend as much as anything. Maybe they exist; maybe they don't.

To be realistic, the name would have to have no meaning unless you knew what they were. Something like Men in Black ... (which always made me wonder what they called it when women joined) .... MiB ... the name means nothing.

In Cyrodill, they could be called the "Men in Fur." Whenever they killed someone, people would say, "Did you hear about Mankar Camoran ... he just got MiFfed!"

Allrighty, then.

Other suggestions: The Society. The Several (assuming a few ultra secret members that answered only to the Elder Council). Thinking medieval: Inquisitors, Tribunals, the Seydana (or Seydania) (ancient assassins). Another cool one would be "Ashinai-Risqu" (know or knowledge of duty - an ancient group of secret assassins). The Skulls. The Never-Born (because they give up their identities).

Are you giving your character a name or an eight digit identifying number? :)

roleplay a goblin hunting ranger.

I always play a special ops character in TES games and ranger fits the bill perfectly.

Just pick an enemy to hunt, goblins, necromancers, bandits..

avoid being a jack of all trades, and avoid looting for the hell of it.

Stick to the job your paid for.

Knights of the Nine.
They're a bit too independent to screw up. They're not exactly swords for hire.

Though, even they get killed off. Doesn't make them bad... Just makes them mortal.
