Fliggerty's Fade To Black

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:31 pm

I have a issue with the Fade to Black mod completely blacking out the screen when it should only have the shader effects on the edges. Not as in shading the entire screen, but as in no display what-so-ever. Black.

This mod worked before, with an extensive mod list including: MGE 3.8 and internal MWSE, FPS 2.0, and MWE 1.21

I changed the setup to include the morrowind code patch, which meant switching to the FPS optimizer 1.9-something. Now the shaders don't work.

Are you having issues with any other shaders? Make sure that MGE is set to allow hardware shaders and updates shader variables.

your Fade to Black is the only mod I am using that, to my knowledge, does anything with shaders. The normal MW hit fader works fine. I'll find some others and test them out.

The first time through the 'allow hardware shaders' box was not selected. I tried it again with all the MGE settings in place and I had the same result.

And thanks for the help.

Edit: I tried a night vision mod by Smoke, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3958, and it worked fine. It also worked fine without either of the two shader functions activated so its not really a fair test. Any other way/mods to test my shader functions.

To the best of my knowledge, the only other mod that handles things in the same way that we did is Linora's Underwater Effects (not positive about the name off the top of my head.) Give that one a shot. It may also be worthwhile to reinstall my mod. Perhaps the shaders got corrupted or something.

All right, things are getting interesting. I re-downloaded and re-installed your Fade mod along with the Underwater Blur mod by Linora. Off the bat I noticed its activation method, well kinda hard to miss the giant pole in the middle of your screen. Anyway after a bit of testing it looked like the blur fader worked consistently and correctly, with or without the FTB. FTB only worked normally while I was under water, so while the Blur fader was activated. If I came out of the water while FTB was in effect the screen will freeze at the moment right before I surfaced. A menu pause or healing myself to get rid of the FTB shaders would return the screen to normal. The same black out, though, when on land or if the Blur was not activated.

Edit: It want to say there is a problem with tribunal. I don't know much about actual modding but I have heard and knid of understand start scripts. I'll try another re-install. Also something that might be a part of the situation, the BSA regulator can not successfully update the Morrowind.ini file. When I installed TR 1 and 2 I had to use a backdoor method to add the TR_Data bsa to the archive. The archive reads 0 = tribunal, 1 = bloodmoon, and 2 = TR_Data

I just finished testing a bunch of re-installs. Nothing worked. Off the top of my head it seems to be the MCP...but then, I don't really know what I am talking about. If anyone can re-create and/or solve the problem I'd love to hear it, otherwise i will have to go without the mod.

Again, thanks for the help.

It might be that fullscreen shaders like this are busted in the latest SVN release of MGE. I seem to remember reading something in the current http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1080781-morrowind-graphics-extender-mge/...

I'll edit this if I spot it.
