DLC not compatable?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:06 pm

Hello~ Well I guess I should get right to it, it's more of a question.

But I've had my fallout 3 for nearly 2 years now, I only started playing it a few months back, great game. The only thing is that I've had the CD(for PC) and no dlc. I bought one dlc over LIVE and it works fine. But a friend of mine noticed that they now have the dlc available over steam and he gifted me 3 of them.

I asked him how to activate it since he has the Steam version of fo3, but he has goty and he said to check the boxes. Well, in my data files, I don't have any except the fallout 3 file, so I'm not sure what to do.

Is there any way I can get my dlc working with the steam dlc's with a non-steam version of fallout 3?

Thanks for you time :)

Welcome to the forum!

As far as i know, Steam DLC isn't compatible with non-Steam stuff, i think it is kept in a special steam format or something which makes it only work through Steam

Try to find it in your Steam folder somewhere in steamapps\common\. Maybe there's a Fallout 3 folder where Steam downloaded the .esm files into a data directory. They should be in the same format (.esm). But well, I really don't know if Steam already downloaded it, because you don't have Fallout 3 in Steam >_>

Good luck.
