SKYRIM PATCHWORK

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:04 am

OKAY, i wrote this forum because I personally am going crazy and i need to keep myself occupied for the next 11 months. i love the TES series and i want skyrim to be the best game they have made and to do that they need to mix alot of things from other games.

Question 1= straight forward its just asking what leveling system you want

Question 2= this is asking the kind of money system you want to have. OB had a limited money cap but unlimited money. This means a merchants max was 1500 gold but they had unlimited money and just couldn't give more than 1500 at a time.
MW had the exact opposite of OB and basically had a cap of lets say 3000 and that was the most money you could get.
Daggerfall had its own banking system and the money had real weight

Question 3= refers to what kind of factions and side quests you want for skyrim, each choice is very specific and has a downside and a upside ( ethier long or short and then diverse or linear)

Question 4= from what game do you want the kind of main quest to be like ( same thing as above ethier long and somewhat linear or shorter but more diverse) (exception of MW because its main quest was long and diverse)

Question 5= which kind of combat system like OB where each swing of a sword does damage just not as much or MW where it is a dice roll and you get mi[censored]s alot but when you do make contact it does some serious damage. Then you must take into account if you want more power moves and a Fallout system where body parts get crippled ( THIS DOES NOT MEAN A VATS SYSTEM) it means if i hit a guy with a bow in the arm maybe his arm is crippled.

OTHER QUESTIONS THAT I COULDNT FIT ON THE POLL!
Question 1= do you want the bow to be like it was in past games or alot more powerful( instead of 20 arrows its like 5 or 6) [yes or no]
Question 2= do you want characters to return such as Maiq the liar or the adoring fan [yes or no]
Question 3= do you want whoever we play as to be related in some way to the guy we played as in OB[ yes i want ties in some way to the champion of cyrodill, No i want to be a completely different person
Question 4= rare objects such as Daedric armor, would you like to find these alot like in OB or barely ever like in MW [OB or MW]
Question 5= amount of dragons [1,2,3, 4 or more]
Question 6= How big do you want the land to be?
Question 7= Do you want the climate to be snowy and with alot of mountains and few grassy plains or do you want them to do less Lore and give us half of snowy mountains and half grassy with sunny skies.

That is all i could think of for now, you obviously don't need to answer all of them i just wanna know what the overall consensus of what we all hope as to what we predict

A good leveling system that has been discussed before is this. Get rid of levels and just raise attributes based on what you level. If you level combat skills your endurance and strength will raise, if you raise magic skills your intelligence and willpower will raise.

Also something interesting that could be used for factions is that you can only join factions that would be logical for you to join, if you are a knight you wouldn't be joining the mages guild for example. Somewhat like Morrowinds system.

so like whatever you use the most you get XP for that? and if you got rid of levels how would you know how good your guy was like a 45 in OB was very good how could you like compare your guy to others

Powerfall, with the ability to down a creature/enemy with one well aimed shot tot he head/weakspot
Question 2= do you want characters to return such as Maiq the liar or the adoring fan [yes or no]
"By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! It's the Grand Champion! I can't believe it's you! Standing here! Next to me!"
Question 3= do you want whoever we play as to be related in some way to the guy we played as in OB[ yes i want ties in some way to the champion of cyrodill, No i want to be a completely different person
A different Person, but meeting the Cyrodill would be a cool twist
Question 4= rare objects such as Daedric armor, would you like to find these alot like in OB or barely ever like in MW [OB or MW]
hardly ever, more high level rare armour sounds better
Question 5= amount of dragons [1,2,3, 4 or more]
MORE! and if you kill all of them you can take the dragon hides somewhere and get dragon armour or dragon weapons!
Question 6= How big do you want the land to be?
Massive, with at least a few big cities.
Question 7= Do you want the climate to be snowy and with alot of mountains and few grassy plains or do you want them to do less Lore and give us half of snowy mountains and half grassy with sunny skies.
less lore, playing a game thats a [censored] to navigate and traverse because you have to climb mountains all the time.

For main quest I say like OB. After x number of characters the main quest isn't that (if at all) interesting or appealing. So it would be better to put some effort on side quest and fractions.

That is one the most biased polls i have ever seen, almost every option is in favour of morrowind....

Don't you morrowind [censored] get it, if you like MW so much then go play it, no one wants MW 2.0 ,especially bethesda. We want a fresh new game.

What's the difference between the Morrowind and Oblivion levelling system again, besides the reduction of skills in Oblivion?

Edit: Oh you mean level scaling I guess.

Leveling: I chose other because there is really no change between Morrowind and Oblivion's leveling system, based on how the player gains levels. (Leveled lists, though, are another story)

Leveled encounters and loot scaling I am in agreement needs to be toned down from Oblivion to something like Fallout or Morrowind, but the method in which the player levels up is in drastic need of an overhaul. It's tedious, arbitrary, and very exploitable. To this I say to Bethesda: look to the mods. GCD style might be your best bet here.

Money: If anything, I'd prefer a hybrid of Daggerfall and Morrowind, where merchants have limited gold and you, the player, can keep your money in a bank to collect interest, but I'm not sure if that would fit in the land of ice and mead, so, I say straight Morrowind here.

Factions and Guilds: Quality over Quantity, I want to feel engaged in what the guilds are doing, and Bethesda still has yet to accomplish this. Morrowind was a but more realistic in terms of your work for the guilds, but it never felt like you were accomplishing anything, and once you reached the master ranks, you essentially ploughed into a brick wall, there was absolutely nothing to do. Oblivion improved on this, but here they blew it by having all of the guilds dealing with some epic struggle to survive. Once is OK, but once you discover that every single guild in the world needs your help to keep from crumbling... yeah.

Main Quest: Keep it reasonable, and don't overstep yourselves, Bethesda. More Morrowind, less Oblivion here, I'd prefer the MQ to be richer in lore than in blood this time.

Combat: Bethesda cannot dodge around adding location based damage here. Not only have they done it, and done it pretty well, but it would do SO much to help with improving on the hacky-slashy nature of Oblivion combat. No die rolls, though. Morrowind gets away with this because it's old, but today, die roll combat disconnects the player with the experience.

k well joke is on you because i didn't like morrowind i played for like 40 hours then sold it back to gamestop, OB is the best game i have ever played why you think it is biased
