I have watched the video that the article talked about on gametrailers before. It was an interesting read, but just like what I wrote on the comment that I have left there, it is clear that the makers of this video completely missed the point of the Fallout series.
The games in the Fallout series were never meant to be serious or actuate simulations of a post nuclear war world. It is not even science fiction, it is science fantasy. It is suppose to present the players with a world based on what people back in the 1950-60s thought the future would be like and then drop nukes on it. It is a world with nuclear cars, laser pistols, giant green mutants, etc. The Fallout universe doesn't even have the same periodic table as us. It is not based on real science, it is based on fantasy and fiction.
Trying to use real life science to explain things in Fallout is like using science to explain the magic in Harry Potter. It might be an interesting discussion, but there isn't a point in it.
