Connecting wall pieces

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:12 am

Is there an easy way connecting wall pieces? I'm having hell to get them right, without glitches and so on..

Ye you would think that I should know this by now, but I don't :P

Make sure you have "Snap to Grid" and "Snap to Angle" turned on. (http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/g/tuts/dsong/First0102.gif)

The default settings should be optimal, but you can change them in Preferences if you need to.

Yeah it's that simple. And if they don't align even when it's snap to grid, your other piece likely needs to be shifted onto the grid. You don't think you'd have to line up everything manually? Building the whole world that way, wayyyyy too much work.

A long time ago i saw a tutorial video explaining how to build a 'house'. All his meshes were off.. No flat floors/ceilings. I actually had to make a video to show and explain how easy it could be for him.

And 64 is the best grid size to snap to, most of the chunks are 64, 128 or 256 units and often square. For building interiors, 90 is a good angle snap, though 45 and 30 have their uses (be aware that the grid snap doesn't play nice with angled pieces, though).

Well I've built half of my overhaul without using the Z, lowering object and so on. Lol guess what I could have done in that time xD
