Fallout Twilight Zone Episode

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:11 pm

Hey guys, I'm a big fan of the Twilight Zone and I remembered an episode called http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ei7Gr-0uNU about when a Apocalypse is coming everybody fights over a guy's fallout shelter. It's a really good episode and seeing how we are all basically Fallout nerds (you're on here anyway right?) then I thought you might be interested in watching it. Also, it was aired in 1961 but everybody is speaking like the 50's and everything's very 50's so it's kinda like watching what happened before the Great War :D Hope you guys enjoy it

Thank you very much for sharing with us. I always enjoy the stories in Twilight Zone. That episode reminds me of all the pre-war human bones that you can find when you first exit vault 101 in Fallout 3.

But I couldn't help but think of three things when I was watching it:
(1) Two weeks of food is no where enough for a family to survive a nuclear winter. They should at lease have some kind of renewable food source such as a small garden or something like that.
(2) A door that can be broken down by four man with a steel pipe will not be able to withstand a nuclear blast.
(3) Even if the 'mini-vault' can stop radiation, after the mob breaks down the door it won't do them any good since radiation can now leak in.

But I understand that just like the Fallout universe, the show was made (and therefore set) with the 1950-60s' mindset. So the ideas are realistic for them.

Thanks again for sharing the link with us!

No problem man, I think this shows how illogical people will think when they scramble. How will the shelter help them if the door is gone? If only TV today made you think like that. Now we have things like Glee and So You Think You Can Dance?

Two weeks however is the recommended amount of food the UK government recommended storing, and good enough to ride out the worst of the fallout (then you can go outside and find more).

Just finished watching it. Amazing... they just don't make TV like that any more.

I didn't know about that before, this is very interesting information. Thanks for sharing!

Here in China were I live we do have emergency shelters in parks and some older public places. The problem is, as far as I know they don't have any food or water in them.... :cold:

These are pretty cool... They're the official pamphlets that would have been plastered around the UK in the event that the cold war might look like going hot:

Now you'll know what to do when the bombs fall....

Simpsons did it.

Seriously though, this is a great episode of a show that probably deserves a new big budget renewal.

Yes I remember that episode, "Bart's Comet" I believe. A comet is coming for Springfield and the only person with a shelter is Flanders. lol

The http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgUppXcPe_0&feature=related is another very Fallout-esque Twilight Zone episode.

QFT

The first time I saw this episode (years ago), the only thing I could think about was how closely it resembled the Fallout universe. I mean, this episode could be ripped wholesale for a quest in a Fallout game. The characters, the setting, the plot, everything. I actually half-expect(ed) them to at least use the basic them from it in one of the games.
