Is it because of the cores?

Heyoo,

Just bought a new computer, running Windows 7 x64, _perfectly_ capable of running games such as Oblivion, Fallout 3, Borderlands.

The thing is, only Oblivion is crashing. When I start it, Windows shuts down the game and searches for a solution. It did find a solution - update Oblivion. Only I already had.

My computer has a six-core processor. I read somewhere that Oblivion is such an old game it doesn't support quad- or six-core processors. Could this be true?
Also, I read that I can somehow ''shut down'' some of the cores to make the game work. I've already tried it on XP SP3 compatibility, did not work.

Please help me? :|

Hi again,

just in case someone stumbles onto this thread and is having the same problem; you probably have 2 screens in use. Disable one of them from windows control panel screen options. After you're done playing, turn it back on. Apparently Oblivion does not handle dual-screen stuff, so... Enjoy if it helped you.
