How To Remove "delete" Messages

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:57 am

This is a new thread based on http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1041353-repairing-the-cogs-of-morrowind-%2316/page__st__180 (scroll down a bit) in the thread Repairing the cogs of Morrowind # 16. Since that thread is now on page 9 and is gathering dust since my reaction i decide to make a seperate thread about my little problem. In that way it can't be overlooked, which is the case in such a big thread.
Some time ago i've posted in the thread Repairing the cogs of Morrowind, which is about the MCP, about also to look to the "delete" messages which appear now in my game. I first thought it was something from the MPP, but after switching that for the UMP the messages still appear. Then you start to wonder what it can cause that and my thought now was maybe something from the MCP. It is like this: sometimes when i talk to a npc those messages appear. For exampe: in Vivec when talking to archmage Trebonius Artorius and i select the topic House Telvanni then i got the message DELETE (in capital letters)
I know that normally Trebonius will say something about that the telvanni is the enemy and such.
Now Narfblat has responded to my message in that thread.
I will quote his response from the thread:
@candesco: What other mods are you using? This seems like something leftover when someone deletes dialogue but forgets to do an extra load-and-save to complete deletion. (the first save after deleting dialogue leaves these "DELETE" entries)

This is my mod list (copied from wrye mash)

The only thing which i have changed related to mods is to update the jasmine mod from Jac to the latest version, according to his instructions.
I haven't deleted any mods myself. I only delete savegames now and then and make new ones. (make new ones, then delete old saves, use mash to scan them on faults)
Now Jac has also responded to my reaction in that thread:
I do that so I know which lines I want to revert back to the original version via TESAME. I swore I got all of those...

Anyway, you can use TESAME to "delete" those entries. Just make sure you use the updated version of the mod instead of the old one.

To Jac: I'm not familiar with TESAME myself and i'm afraid to screw my game if i use this. From what i have understand TESAME can be destructive if you don't know what you do and thus causing problems. I don't want to install everything again.

Anyway, i post this, cause i like to know if Narfblat or someone else has a solultion then for my little problem and as said before the big repairing the cogs thread is now been founded in the depths of the archive.
Technical sidenote: i'm running the game on windows xp pro sp3 (dutch version).
Thanks in advance.

I'd use something like Wingrep or InfoRapid Search & Replace to search my active plugins for the string "House Telvanni" (or any other topic that is marked as Deleted). This'll help identify the problem mod.

Looking through your mod list, nothing really leaps out at me as a potential cause for this problem

wingrep, i will use that one. I don't know what it causes. According to Narfblat it's a leftover from something. It's not a major problem, but it is a bit annoying when it pops up now and then. The game itself works though.
