My god no...

I think its more a reflection of demographics. Those of a certain age may want flashier, noisier, action-oriented games. Those same people may gravitate to console platforms due to economic constraints. If they had the means they'd probably have a high powered PC too.

I hope you all noticed the "may" and "probably" in that short paragraph. Nothing is cut and dried and I try not to generalize. I've seen many people in this forum deride the "konsole kiddies" loving Oblivion's perceived dumb-downed-ness and it was my favorite game of the last decade. I'm so old I can barely roll out of bed in the morning and play on a pretty decent PC so there goes that stereotype. :obliviongate:

If they add mountable dragons...I think I may not buy another TES game ever again. I'll mod Morrowind and Oblivion. If they add dragons that you can ride, I'll do something crazy. I'm a huge Morrowind/DF fan. Oblivion is like 7/10 for me. If they add mountable dragons, I don't think I'll ever say a bad thing about any other TES game ever again. I'll be too filled with rage.

Corpus Disease turns the victim into an extremely powerful husk of rage. I'll make a corpus stalker look like the happiest guy in Mundus.

Meh, I wouldn't mind riding a dragon. Of course, the dragon probably wouldn't be too happy about this, and as such, I would probably be trying to kill the dragon as I was riding it.

This would be a one time thing, mind you. I don't want to go the Winterhold Stables to buy a Red Dragon that moves faster than a Paint Dragon, you know.

look, even if thousands of console gamers wanted something that would ruin TES, bethesda would NOT put it into their games... im sure they can pick the weeds out of a garden.

you should just trust bethesda, they know TES better than any fan, since they made it... so they're not going to screw anything up just because a handful of fans are idiots.

Bethesda learned their lesson with OB and just like FO3 and New Vegas they are coming out of the gate with a mature rating and that's just smart.

Precisely -- and it has nothing to do with what content you want to put in the game. Rather, knowing that you've got an M rating in the first place allows the writers to just write. With the specter of a T rating looming over their heads, there's a strong urge to play it safe, which usually results in a fairly bland story. Probably an E-rated one actually, and then they crowbar in some gratuitous six and violence after the fact. Easier to do it that way because, starting from zero, they know exactly how much to add; but it's just pasted on.

If the game's known in advance to be rated M, none of that crap is necessary. Write a real story, no holds barred, and it doesn't even need boobs because your audience is expected to be mature enough to appreciate a sophisticated plot on its own merits. You know... like it was before games were rated in the first place. This is the same franchise that brought us Daggerfall, remember?

Edit: Apparently certain slang terms for human mammary glands are censored. Also, for the record, I'm quite aware that most people over the age of 14 can handle mature themes and sophisticated literature. It's just illegal to sell them to you.

Actually, some of us play on consoles because we simply don't have computers capable of playing these games. It's much cheaper to get an Xbox 360 compared to the prices of gaming PCs.

This is coming from someone who is mostly a console gamer (I barely play on my pc), but this is inaccurate. First off, you have a pc so you needed to buy one in the first place. Then of course you don't keep the same pc for 10 years, you might upgrade it so it can live longer, but you don't need to change it particularly often. It's a myth that good gaming rigs (not the ultimate mind you) costs thousands, you can make a pretty decent computer for a very decent price, you don't need the maximal performance to run a game. And then, games costs more on consoles, you don't need to pay more than you do for your internet to fully use the games' features, every DLC is cheaper (sometimes free) on pc. Then add Steam and its ridiculous low prices, mods, and for a lot less you can get much more than what you'd get on a console where everything costs something and is overpriced. If you put a couple of hundreds more on your pc rather than buying a console, you can get a pretty decent computer.

I don't think the correlation between stupidity and playing on a console is fair. That being said, Dumbed-Down gameplay sells, and because of the limited hardware and controls inputs of consoles, DUmbed-Down gameplay is actually required to put a game on console.

No worries - you'd see an equal amount of idiotic comments coming from the PC-set. They just have a habit of being shouted-over by the more vitriolic elements.

I think he is saying that a he sees a lot of suggestions that do not fit with the spirit of TES coming from his fellow console gamers.

I'd say there is nothing to worry about. Bethesda knows what sort of game they want to make, and they won't put features in that they don't think will benefit the gameplay. The opinions of a few fans don't directly matter.
