I have never tried to kill him on purpose but he has died on me out in the wastes and when it happened I was shocked and mad cause my last save was over an hour before. Not sure what level I was but was over 20 as I had returned from The Pitt. I was running on a overpass that had the boards so you could cross the missing sections of road. I guess he was in to much of a hurry to catch up to me and fell off one of the boards. I think he might have seen a raider or something that he wanted to kill. I haven't been able to keep anyone else alive long enough to get to the high levels so I don't know about the others that are hard to kill.


I too have had lag and freezing problems with the PS3. Both with the oringal game and goty. It got so bad that I just decided to buy the pc verison. I will try that fix and hope that it works cause the game is so much better looking on my tv than it is on my pc monitor

tacoma park/industrial it (fawkes) got toasted by nothing but talon mercs and super mutants (level 30, very hard).
same deal with the les enfants area.. only minus the mercs.
I've killed him with a sniper rifle in sneak position.. green bastard never seen it coming (not with one shot mind you).
this was on the computer.. no cheating (I don't need to cheat).

No, Fawkes is male. One of the devs confirmed that Fawkes is male in another "Fawkes is female" thread.

one of the terminals in vault 87 says "its" name was Jason Subject something or other.
plus they have no reproductive organs, so technically they are niether.

Actually the terminal for Fawkes's cell refers to the subject as female; however, it's been confirmed that Fawkes is not he subject that the terminal refers to, and he is indeed male.

Also, it's not certain that Vault 87 Super Mutants are genderless; they may be like Mariposa Super Mutants in that respect. Either way they're sterile and have no secondary sixual characteristics, so their gender doesn't really matter.

Fawkes is easy enough to smoke, if you wish.

(1) Hack the terminal next to his cell, choose "Terminate Subject".
(2) Reverse pickpocket a grenade onto him, which kills anyone instantly.
(3) Lose him going into the hotel in the "Reilly's Rangers" quest. You may well get a message saying "Fawkes has died" when you reach the roof.

I already killed him with bottlecap mines. The beer is gonna taste good tonight!!! :celebration: :foodndrink:

Another thing that might work is pushing him off the bridge between the Our lady Hospital and the Statesman Hotel. I did it with Charon, and the fall killed him (but I reloaded, because I'm not in a habit of slaughtering my followers).

Use 40 frag mines, 16 bottle cap mines and a couple of plasma mines, get him hostile than shoot the mines. He went literraly 60 meters in the air! LOL

No, no, no, no, no. The original person held up in that cell was a female. She died, and then they put fawkes in there...
