Wait, ALL cliff racers were hostile in vanilla?

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 9:32 pm

It has been nearly ten years since I played vanilla. My god...how annoying would that be? How could Bethesda think that would be a good idea? I've always played with only the diseased cliff racers hostile. I always love to see the neutral cliff racers soaring up in the distant sky or horizon.

Haha, that's a great picture. I always love wandering Vvardenfell and listening to the music and enjoying the overhaul. Having all of that being ruined by constant attacks from 5hp cliff racer jokes + having to listen to the combat music is LAME!

Yup, the cliff racers drove the dragons away, before they did Morrowind was considered a paradise for dragons.

Obviously, it wasn't the "threat" of the cliffracers that drove off the dragons, more like the constant annoyance and never-ending "battle music". It's bad enough on the ground, but when you're flying, every cliffracer within seeing distance has a direct line of sight to you. For a dragon, that's got to be an ache in the posterior after about the 300th incident or so.....each day.

For all my eleventy billion and two mods, I still play with mostly vanilla creatures. And let me tell you. I hear the cries of hostile cliff racers in my dreams. (You'd think I'd get a mod to fix the vanilla creatures thing, but I never have. Never particularly wanted one either. I think the cliff racers might've driven me around the bend.)

Well, it's obvious, isn't it? Cliff racers annoyed the dragons so much that they had to leave or go mad. And Jiub has become some sort of memetic badass for some reason, so of course he'd have the power to drive away the most annoying creature in all of Vvardenfell. Presumably he did it just by staring at them.

And then after driving off the cliff racers, he punched out Chuck Norris.

Shame on you for starting with mods and not playing the original game. >.>

And yes, they were all hostile.

Uh, OP said it'd been nearly ten years since he'd played vanilla. Meaning he'd played vanilla at one point. ;)

Cliff Racers have never bothered me like most players have stated for so long. I find them the best marksmanship practice in the entire game.
I try to pick them off from the furthest distance possible. And in normal close battles, I always try to 'catch' them for their feathers and down before they hit the ground...
...and I use the Marksman Mod and they cast spells at you! It's a challenge to try and pick off the spells in mid-air with an arrow, which nullifies them.
In addition, one wouldn't expect them to purr like a kitten, or on second thought...a non-feral Guar (Awwww).

I agree with Mjoll the Lioness from Riften, Skyrim... "When I was young, my father and I would journey on trips to Morrowind. The Cliff Racers made for excellent sport".

Not sure, but wasn't it Vvardenfell in particular where they'd been driven away?

If Jiub had pushed the cliff racers into Skyrim there wouldn't have been a need for the Dovahkiin.

I think the Nords might have interpreted that as an act of war, though. Or at least an act of wanton annoyance. :P

Presumably he did it just by staring at them.

And the scary/awesome part of this presumption? He did it in spite of having one eye... :yuck:
