How to change WGI Factions mod

Post » Fri May 25, 2012 11:19 pm

I just started using the modular Wakim's Game Improvements. So far everything is good, however I don't like that only Mage's Guild members can use the guild guides. I understand the reasoning behind this, but to me fast travel is so crucial to all characters and shouldn't be restricted.

Anyone know where to change this faction check? I looked in Dialogue for one of the guild guides and there is no Travel option, it seems to be in the AI settings, and I couldn't find where it checks to see what factions you are in. I looked through the scripts for something indicating this but didn't see anything. Any ideas??

Perfect! It looks as if the mod creator actually missed Flacassia Fauseius in Vivec and Iniel in Sadrith Mora.

If anyone wants a copy of the modified mod, email me at kokomodrums@gmail.com, although it's really easy to do yourself. List of guild guides: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Transport#Guild_Guide

Thanks again Arsuru!

No problem. It's certainly not in an obvious place.

I never get why people want to limit the guild guide service so much. You're told to use it during quests that are not part of the Mages Guild, and at least one NPC that is not a Mages Guild member is known to use it. I mean, I do get wanting to impose a challenge, but it seems to be made as a public service.

Oh well, to each their own.

Actually, I think it would make more sense if non-guild members got charged alot more for using it compared to guild members. Perhaps guild members of a certain rank(probably the second rank so they can "prove" they are actually part of the guild in more than name only) would have the price reduced by alot. It would make sense the mages guild would want people to give them money. I am sure this is easy to implement, but the inner workings of dialogue and such isnt something I know anything about.

That would make sense, absolutely, but that's not really what I was arguing against. It's always been all or none with services. The MCP adds the ability to filter specific services, and with MGE XE you can alter the GMSTs from within the game, which is what you would need to do to change the guild guide prices significantly for different people. Though you could do dialogue-based teleport (like the way you get to and from Mourhold, just add a fee) and just remove the travel services from the guild guides easily enough. Kinda makes me wonder why it's not been done, at least, publicly. Or that I know of.

There's a mod that does this, actually. It's the Service Requirements mod. It puts up a surcharge for non-members, but members of certain ranks don't have to pay it anymore, and does it for all factions. It's made me learn to appreciate walking and conserving my funds 'til I can comfortably afford to pay for services.

I knew it must have been done already. I forgot all about that mod. I see it alters the rank of some NPCs though, which doesn't seem necessary, but still, a quick test looks pretty good.
