Crytek why was banned.xml files all purged!?

Seriously!? What is the reasoning behind that? Yes, I have backups and plan to immediately implement them, but why would you do something like that?

Don't believe this is true. The list are on the servers. But if any admins needs a list, I'll let them use mine

Having lost nothing, I'm wondering. Technically it seems a bit hazy as well, them reaching into local server configuration files globally...

Your banned.xmls just disappeared across the board?

Yes. I first checked my ranked server and it was cleared. I thought that was odd, but then I looked at my unranked servers as well and they too were cleared.

EDIT: Not disappeared, were just cleared. Since I check my logs and update those files daily, I would not miss something like that.

Sonofabich. The way the banned.xml is churned and validated by the server, that could happen. I can report that it didnt happen to me.

Kind of the "Auto Suit Reboot" for server operators.

Your server provider should have a back up. I know ours does back ups daily/on restarts

I have backups for mine. I synchronize the ban list between all of my servers. If a player is caught on one server, he's included on the ban list for all of them.

And yes, CHANCE, Crytek can pretty much push ANY file they want down to servers. (Including and not limited to the banned.xml file)

Interesting. TY. I would have thought they would at least need the cooperation of the server provider (in this case you!).

No, as far as I know he tried to become one but EA failed somehow there (ask him for more info there...)
His/Our ranked server is a rented one too.

I thought I saw a pic of his servers in his basemant ... it's his business and he could run anything.

Only Trusted EA Partners can host this game. All of us have to rent it from a Trusted Partner. We lease our own dedicated servers. One of them (managed by the server provider) hosts both Crysis2 servers and most of our Battlefield servers. The other one is un-managed ans we can host anything we want that is not restricted.
