Skyrim sales!

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:39 am

Eventually, I plan on purchasing both games, but Skyrim will be number one. I'll probably wait until ME3 drops in price (and maybe they'll include some DLC's in that too). Skyrim will svck up all my spare time anyway, heheh. But between Skyrim coming out in November and Shogun 2: Total War coming out in March (at least I think it's March), I'm already at two games that are likely to svck up all my spare time, and then some.

Why such strong emotions? I understand this is the internet and all but I'm not sure if I like being called a blind idiot that likes to watch paint dry.

Ha, please. If you buy the same game every year thinking it's improved in another way then just new maps and guns, then unfortunately you are blind. Maybe not an idiot, but it's still wasted money.

Buy CoD 4 and you have every CoD.

Aside from the fact I find it unlikely that two major titles that are as complex as rpgs will hold their release date a year out from completion, it doesn't really matter. Neither game is going to get lost in the hype of the other. As far as the PS3 goes (which is my platform of choice) almost all of us have warm fuzzy feelings about Oblivion because it was one of the titles available in the first year of the console that was just brimming with quality and, most importantly, was fun to play hours at a time. I still remember leaving the sewers in Oblivion and seeing the game world, looking up into the night sky. That was the moment that current gen gaming arrived for me... so it's a very fond memory.

For what it's worth, I'm going to be pre-ordering Skyrim and probably not playing ME3 at all. Either way though, if someone's a fan of the series a near-simultaneous release of an rpg with a different mentality and set in a different world probably won't affect sales. Maybe opening month sales, but honestly... unless we own a great deal of stock in Obsidian, Bethesda or Zenimax, who cares?

One thing I would make a point of though, if I were in charge, is to reiterate again and again that this engine is NOT the Fallout: NV engine and it is a finished game that's completed the QA process.

Nothing beats TES games for me! I'd eat incandescent light bulbs, happily, before buying something over a TES game.

I know I am not alone.

CoD 2 is best CoD ;)

I am not worried about Skyrim sales, Bethesda marketing is great. They are very smart when it comes to marketing games and raising sales. Don't worry, Skyrim will sell millions. And who said ME3 is coming 2 days before? I thought it was still TBA as Fall.

Maybe, possibly, probably not. I'm going to get both though. Oh, and the Witcher 2 when and if it comes out for the 360, that game is going to kick some gnarballs.

Skyrim will beat Mass Effect because the fan base for the ES series has waited longer for a game release. There will be more people intrigued by a game in a series they haven't played for a long. Mass Effect 2 was released in January of 2010. It got good reviews overall, but I didn't like it because EA ruined it for me. I'm convinced once EA touches something it starts to melt. Mass Effect 2 was hardly a sequel.

The CoD series needs to not release a new game every year. It makes me not want to play it because I simply don't want to buy it. There online is awesomely fun, but I'm not willing to shell out the money every year. Activision=Greedy. If you can buy a new CoD every year, good for you. I'm just not financially well off to do so. If I was, I would buy it yearly just to see what the fuss is all about.

ME3 doesn't have a chance against skyrim, if they were smart they would delay ME3 until 2012, to get more sales instead of getting trumped by TES

Okay, I understand you have a very strong opinion on this. I'm kinda curious why. You're clearly not spending money on something you don't like, other people do, but they also seem to like it. So what is it to you?

I think Mass Effect 3 should get out of the way before it gets bulldozed by a bunch of Nords.

Hah! This was my first thought as well.

Bethesda have got nothing to worry about.

Do you think sales for Skyrim will be badly affected, with ME3 coming out just 2 days before?

lol!!! well dont you think that the previews and all these things that Todd Howard says he has to show before the game is released will affect the possible sales of the game? the same applies to ME3 i suppose, and why should you bother for something like that by the time that you have the game and you like it? you tend to buy all the copies of it to raise the sales if they re down?!!!!

Isn't the release date for ME3 Holidays 2011? If they updated that with a definite date I missed it.

If that is true, how does Holidays 2011 equal two days before 11/11/11? If anything, since usually Holidays mean Thanksgiving through Christmas, ME3 is coming out after Skyrim. And that is if ME3 makes their release window.

I will probably get both at the same time. I love Mass Effect though at the same time love the Elder Scolls games too and played all of them as well.

The same goes for Gears of War 3 when that comes out. Loved the first two GoW. So with 3 great games coming out the end of the year I'll have enough games to keep me busy for a very long time.

Though may be a bit bored till then, cause won't buy anything till they come out.

It was posted on gamestop that ME3 would be launched two days before skyrim. It is possible that the website is incorrect, however I think it is quite likely that ME3 will be released on that date.

I'll be getting both, no question.

This. They're both some of my favorite series, and I'll be getting them both. Which one I'll be playing first depends on which comes out first.
