Questions About Npc Mods

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:12 am

Hi everyone! I haven't played Morrowind for a while so now i''ve put a fresh install on my HD! It's crazy to see how the MW community is always active and makes TES III so much BETTER than his successor (i've bought Oblivion and except good graphics and some improvements here and there i'm very disappointed).

I'm used to play with MCA but now that I found http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7749 i think i will keep it instead of MCA. Why?. Because I think that Starfire has made a lot of improvments and her mod is light and well-integrated in the original game. Thanks to her because I was always asking myself why MCA don't use random heads from the stock meshes to provide a more immersive gaming (so that NPCs use YOUR head replacer).

But because it's a young mod it lacks radom NPCs in interior cells and random HOSTILE encounters (that MCA does). So i decided to re-use http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1272. Well it's not as good as MCA for random fights but it's the only one that i know and i'm not sure that it covers Tribunal and Bloodmoon. So i'd like to know if there is a mod that can complements Starfires NPC Additions for having hostile NPCs? I found http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3315 but i don't like it so much (too many fights and strange leveled list with low level NPCs  )

In http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=794715 Gluby says that http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1095 is superseded by the MCP project. Is it really true? Or must I launch the last MWSE? I played with horatio's mod + the mwse patch and found NPCs so stupid without his mod.

The last question is a compatibility question. I'd like to use http://www.lgnpc.org/downloads with http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=676 and http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2347. Are they fully compatible? Has anyone tried to play with all of them? Or is there a fix patch? Coz' the three mods affect NPCs and alters the doors in-game I think they can conflict.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4481 is one must-have mod too but I can report that it causes in my MW install a lot of CTD. At first I thought it was MGE but then I switched back to the stable release (3.8b) and after a few series of test and crash (few??? i said few?!!!!) I found that it was because of this mod (i don't know why but it was loading/saving game crashes).

Well thanks to people who took time to read my post. Sorry for some English mistakes but it's not my first language. Hope that some of you can help me and whatever, good gaming!!!!

I think it's not very clear from Glyby's Guide, but if you read carefully you can see that Gluby means the MCP fixes mugging, which is also fixed by NPC enhanced. Apart from that, these mods have nothing to do with each other. It's still highly recommended that you use the MCP as it fixes a lot of bugs.

Can't answer your other questions as I can't run mods that add lots off npc unless I want to watch a slideshow :(

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4967 adds some NPC "raiders" to the creature levelled lists, but I don't know of anything like MCA.

There is also http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1256.

tiponey, have you considered running both MCA and Starfire's NPCs? That's my combination of choice. I think they work pretty well together.

Thanks for all your suggestions!! I already tried Morrowind Advanced but i don't like some of the creatures added (more annoying than interesting). and yes i played both MCA with Starfire NPC additions but i'd like to use only her mod with an hostile NPC additions (i don't like what MCa adds - it's not so lore-friendly and not of my taste!)
So i played a little bit with Rogues & Ambushes 1.51 (on PES) and it's a pity that this mod is not "finished" because the AI is good! The problem is the lack of balance between your char and the ennemies but there's a lot of good ideas!! What i'd like is to supress the message textt for a NPC action but i'm only a player not a modder.
So is there a way to tweak the levelled lists?(i think it's possible)
Is there a guide or a thread about adding creatures or NPC?about scripting?
Like I said i'm a player not a modder so everything useful to try to tweak this mod is welcome or maybe can anybody can do it?

Thanks for reading me!!!

There's also http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3315. It adds NPCs to the level lists that attack the player. It can be unbalancing though because of the amount of loot you can collect.

I'd really be wary of using Hostile Attackers, because: (i) Enemies aren't (even slightly) balanced to the PC's level and (ii) Changes to the levelled lists have been made in such a way that the changes all other mods make to creature levelled lists are ignored (at least using Mashed Lists).

I think (ii) is because the original entries on each levelled list have been removed (see http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3272 by the same author). Now setting things up like that might have worked with Horatio's Levelled List Merger but not for those using TESTool or Wrye Mash. When I tried it with Mashed Lists the only baddie I ever encountered that was spawned by the levelled lists affected by Hostile Attackers was a Hostile Attackers NPC. And I'd get attacked by a lvl 60 bad guy at lvl 1. That got old rather fast.
