I need a good ESP cleaning utility AND a manual, not some automatic one. Is there something like that?

I am thinking about an utility such as TES4Gecko for Oblivion, which let's one choose the unintentionally changed entries and remove them from the plugin file. Automatic utilities didn't work for me, the wrong entries were still there, or more then just the buggy stuff got removed (in case of TESTool that is). Searching the sites did not help me to find an utility capable of such changes. I desperately need this.

Both have their problems (TESAME is weak and EE can corrupt files), but you're better off using the Enchanted Editor of the two.

Yes, always make a back-up copy of your esp before editing.

Thanks for all the info. I gave TESAME a try (I go rather for less functions and more safety) and it did exactly what I wanted. If it won't be enough later, I'll be sure to remember to use Enchanted Editor. Thank you all!
