Will the GI website have the article on it the same day?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:48 am

I'm not subscribed to GI, and even if I subscribed now it would be too late to get the Feb issue, so I planned to just go by Gamestop and buy a copy. But I asked an employee today and he said they usually don't get the issues until a week or more after the subscribers get it.

So will they have the 12 page article on their website when the issue comes out?

14 pages ;)

And I doubt it. I think there's online-subscriptions, though, but I'm not subscribed to GI and not even living in the US, so I'll let someone who is answer that.

Does the GI article come out on their website at some point, though? That'd be a godsend to us here in Finland, who can't get the magazine in stores at all. :ermm:

I might actually go pick this thing up. I guess the magazine companies finally figured out that they have to keep some things magazine-exclusive or people won't subscribe. I canceled my subscriptions when I realized I could get the same info earlier online from the same websites. But now....

No they won't. GI reveals the cover art first. They'll put that up on their website before the mag is delivered to subscribers. Subscribers usually receive their copy either the day of or the day after the cover is revealed. A few days after that, GI will put up a hub with some general info on the game, some interviews, and maybe a few screens. Then about a week later, the issue will be available everywhere. Gamestop is usually the first place to get the mag after subscribers...

Also would the people saying 14 pages please post a link to where you found that info? Unless something changed, I'm pretty sure it's 12 pages...

It's 14.

The OP really should've just posted in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1151387-the-february-game-informer-cover-thread/ but i just wanted to say are you 100% sure that subscribers get it before Gamestop stores do?

I'm a subscriber but i was going to call my gamestop every day from Jan. 1st til when they got it in just incase they get it before me.

Yes, subscribers are supposed to be the first ones to get the mag. Some subscribers get it earlier than others though... I assume there are some people who's mail gets messed up and have to wait longer. Mags arriving late is a common complaint on GI's site. I think your plan is a good one though... After the cover is revealed on GI's site, which will probably be around Jan 6th not Jan 1st, I'd check your mail and call Gamestop everyday. If you're a subscriber, it should come in the mail for you first... but if it doesn't for some reason, Gamestop will be the first place to have it.

And you're right about the 14 pages. I just saw this tweet from GI editor Andrew Reienr: "Our Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim coverage has expanded from 12 pages to 14, making it our largest game-based cover story."

I think they do... I'm pretty sure Gamestop owns Game Informer... Or vice versa... Or they're both owned by the same parent company. Something like that... Anyway, every Gamestop I've ever been in has had both the current month's and the previous month's GI issue at the checkout counter...

I really hope the first 2 pages of the article isn't just a huge, multi-page picture of a dragon or something. I'd be pretty pissed to find out that's why it went from 12 pages to 14.

I'd be ok with it as long as it's lore relevant

Well yeah but I can see it just being the huge letters THE ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM with a big dragon breathing fire. I mean that would be cool, but not very cool of Reiner to make it sound like there were 14 pages of info, instead of 12 pages of info and a 2 page graphic.

GameStop does own GI but, the GS near me will not sell just one mag, you have to become a subscriber.

Can you unsubscribe?
I might just subscribe for one month, and then cancel.
EDIT: Anyone in NZ/Aus know if you can just pick up one copy form EB Games?
