So, Why's Moria the Way She Is?

Or anyone else for that matter?

To explain the inquiry, which is purely for theoretical discussion and such(not a question that I would ask out of confusion), Fallout 3 doesn't often delve into characters' histories that much. Often we get some details, but the quantity of which often varies notably. I'm by no means complaining about Fallout 3, though I would have liked to see maybe a little more depth to its characters, groups, etc. But it does make you in the dark, on occasion, on how so and so is like this, or why they're doing this. For example: Moria. Or Dr. Braun. Was Moria just like that since she was little-weird and, at least seemingly, a little insane? Did Dr. Braun simply go crazy from boredom, or with power(this seems to be the one implied, I suppose)?

Again, nothing really serious-just theories one why someone is like this, is doing that, etc. etc.

For Moria, some people really are like that. Bubbly, inquisitive and more than a little oblivious to the dangers of the world. I actually find her cheerful demeanor a welcome change from the usual depression of the wasteland.

For Braun, Two hundred years of basically being god and having the power of life and death over people will eventually twist you like that.

This is, unfortuantly, a problem with Bethesda's sandbox RPGs.

Anyone remember Crassius Curio in Morrowind? Anyone know why he's the creepy "Call me Uncle Crassius" hump-anything-that-moves NPC that everybody for some reason loves? Yes, the programmers forgot to put in "male-specific dialouge," but the lore-reason? How about Yngling Half-Troll, and why he doesn't understand the natives of Morrowind? What kind of councilor is that one Redoran Councilor when he's NOT influenced by the Telvanni? What about Diviath Fyr?

As for oblivion, why is that one orc trying (and failing, miserably) to pass himself off as a "legitimate" noble? What did Lucian Lachance do to get into the Dark Brotherhood? How about Mr. Lex from the Thieve's Guild quests? Why is he so adamant about stopping the Grey Fox, especially when the rest of the guards don't seem to care all that much?

The problem is that you don't have 1 or 2 zany characters the game focuses on, but practically every named NPC has some kind of way-out-there aspect to their personality... and because of this, Bethesda can't really divulge all of the information they need to to really flesh out the who, what, why, and how.

Of course, it may be better this way, since we all get our turn to put a spin on how these people came to act like they do...
