need help finding location

Hi guys, I'm just getting back to Fallout 3 after a year or so, and I need help finding a location I discovered in my first playthrough, but I never explored it all the way. I'll try to describe it as best I can remember.

I believe it was a cave, and I know it was filled with ghouls, and the reason I didn't explore it right away was that the radiation was very high, almost instantly crippling and worse than any other area I've seen in the game besides vault 87. I know it was on the overland map, not in the downtown DC section, and it was not accessed through any sewer or anything, but I don't know if it was a named location or not. If I'm not mistaken I found it on the western outskirts of the DC area, west of the Potomac. The atmosphere of the "cave" is that the walls appear to be made of rock, and the floor I remember having a catwalk appearance, but I think the whole area was layed out flat, without any stairs or different levels. Finally, the radiation was very light when you first enter the door from outside, but it gets exponentially worse as soon as your begin moving deeper into the area.

If anyone reads this and knows what I'm talking about, or even has a guess, I'd appreciate any help. The radiation was so rediculous that I put off exploring until I had a better radiation suit and a stock of RadX, but I eventually forgot where it was and I have never been able to find it again.

It would be a fair bit furthur than you describe, but could it have been the exterior of Vault 87? It seems to fit the description.

The area around there has the highest rad levels I have ever seen.

It sounds a little like Hazmat disposal site L5. However, this is in downtown DC.

I'm with M45A5. When I opened the topic I was hoping I could help you out. Once I started reading it,
the first thing that came to mind was Hazmat disposal site L5. Once I read it all though, I can't think of
any other such location with high radiation (except Vault 87).

Is there anything else that might help us pinpoint it? Anything at all? You made me curious :)

Hmm, I remember the "Sunken Sewer" was a rather irradiated underground location, but I think it's closer to DC and not really in the outer wasteland area.

I am now curious, too, about this location! :)

Warington Trainyard had radiation and ghouls. It is on the South/Southwest end of the map.

Warrington Trainyard does have some radiation and ghouls, however it would be very memorable since it is within sight of Tenpenny Tower. Also, the radiation level is not that high. I remember being in Disposal Site L5 and almost dying from radiation poisining because I became too distracted by the ghouls to keep track of my raidation level. I really burned through some radaway before I got out.
