Theodore “Theo” Rhodes
Vault 66
9:15AM - 9:30AM

The morning was a somber one. It always was when the day those chosen to be expelled, rolled around. Nobody had come around to see Theo, he’d asked that it be like that. He didn’t want anyone getting emotional, or regretting their vote for him, if they had voted for him. So he ate his breakfast alone and got ready to head for the outside.

Everything Theo thought he needed out in the world, had already been packed the previous day. After learning of the elections, he’d started right away on putting things together in his rucksack. The reality of it still not yet set in until today, when the clock ticked down to that final hour; the hour that would have them all meeting at the door.

It’s finally come to this, he thought to himself. He took one last look at his old home, remembering the times he’d had, both good and bad. None of it though, seemed to matter to him anymore. His life was over as he figured it, all those who’d gone out there were dead. It was only a matter of time until he and the other’s leaving as well were dead; either from radiation or otherwise.

He didn’t bother with a note, something he’d seen in an old movie once, in the media room of the vault. A man leaving home forever, had left a note to those he loved. Theo felt no need, his content was knowing he was going to die.

Quietly he slung on his rucksack, holstered his chosen weapon, and made his way for the gate. As he walked, he passed by the homes of old friends, some he hadn’t even spoken with in years. He didn’t bother saying anything to them, he just walked.

As he walked, he realized that the halls of the vault were empty, except for himself of course. It wasn’t unusual for them to empty on a day like this, but it was different being on the other side, when he’d been in everyone else’s shoes for so long. Every time the day those who were to be cast out, came around, the halls of the vault were empty of anyone else but the five. Theo never understood if it was a sign of respect or fear, to those being cast out. Either way, he was glad he didn’t have to see anyone’s face.

At the door, the Overseer was there to meet him, along with his father who had been lucky and made it to the age of 61, never having been voted into the top five. His mother had passed away a few years before, leaving just Theo and his father as the only Rhodes in Vault 66.

“Good luck son, do whatever it takes to survive,” his father said. The two gave a quick embrace, but Theo could feel the pain his father was feeling. The unwillingness to let go right away, also told Theo how much his father felt. Theo had asked him not to come, knowing that his only son was being sent to his death, but the old stubborn man had come anyway. He was somewhat glad though, holding back any emotion he had in the presence of the Overseer.

“Good luck, Theo Rhodes, I’m sorry you had to be one to be voted out,” the Overseer said. “I’m sure you’ll make it out there, you and the rest are hearty people.” She held out her hand and gave a smile, one Theo figured she’d given plenty of others in his shoes, before.

He gave a half hearted smile back anyway, and shook her hand. “Thank you,” he said.

The other’s being cast out, were just starting to come around as Theo stepped away from his father and Overseer, taking his place near the door. He’d never been closer to the door before now, it made him a bit nervous, although he repressed the nervousness with a look of solemnness.

After the other’s own personal moments, the other’s all took places with Theo at the door.

“I would just like to say some last words to you all, before that door opens. I think it’s important you all know how much your sacrifice means to us.” The Overseer pause a moment, and pulled a piece of paper from her pocket. “For the five of you about to be cast out into the world, first I’d like to say thank you. Thank you to all of you, who’ve taken the place of death so the rest of us may live. Though the threat of the nerve gas is still clear in our minds, the five of you have given us more time. All of us in the vault, thank you, and wish you nothing but the best when out in that world; hopefully you’ll make it.”

She paused again, taking a moment as her eyes began to tear up. Theo didn’t know if they were real or fake, if she was just putting on a show or actually feeling horrible for having to cast five people out into the world. He figured it was probably a mix of both, but more show than actual emotion. Quickly she cleaned herself up and continued.

“Excuse me, I just feel terrible about this . . . When the five of you step out that door there behind you, and it closes behind you, never to open for any of you again, I want you to all know that no matter what wrong’s you may have done while in this vault, you are all absolved of them. You go into that world fresh, new, and able to make a new life. From my own personal heart, to you, I thank you for all your time spent here.”

Without even a pause for a bit of silence before they were to leave, the Overseer’s hand swiftly pulled the lever for the door. It was loud as lights flashed, and the door to the vault opened with a wail. With the others, Theo turned and faced his new world, taking a breath before stepping forward and into the unknown.

“This is it,” he said to them all, just before they all stepped through the door, knowing they’d never return.

As the door closed behind them, leaving them to their fate in an old dark tunnel, Theo didn’t bother looking back, he just looked at the others and to the exit of the tunnel. He was glad to be out of there, his fate unknown, but death he figured, just waiting over his and the other’s shoulders.

Without much care, Theo opened the door to the outside world. He thought to shield his eyes, knowing that the outside would could be bright, but to his surprise there was not much light. He took a few steps forward, looking up. The sky was a dark grey, and the land was barren and empty. He looked at everyone else, a bit surprised.

“What now?” He asked them.

Timothy "TIm/Doc" Day

Vault 66

9:15-9:30

Timothy got up from his bed to look at the time. 9:15. "Well Tim, today is the start of the end of your life" he said out loud with a stretch and a yawn. He wasn't feeling at all sorry for himself or any of the other 4 guys who were chosen to leave. He kinda just sorta of wished he had more stuff to bring. He looked back down at the rucksack he had prepped the night before and took inventory one last time.

Water, some canned goods, 2 first-aid kits, ammo, stims, and a couple of doses of Med-X. "This sure as hell wont be enough" he said, "But it's better than nothing at all".

He surveyed his room for the last time, thinking about how this will probably be the last clean room he will ever see for the rest of his life and how he'd be lucky if he even found a bed in place like the wasteland. People had spread rumors about the outside while inside Tim's office. The scary, monster filled hell hole seemed to just be a load of s*** until now... now that he actually had to trek across it.

He took comfort in knowing that he at least had a weapon and 4 other guys journeying with him, even if it IS probably against their wishes. After recollecting himself, Tim grabbed his gear and walked through the desolate hallways to main door. Once there he saw the Overseer, one of the other men in the 5, and someone who Tim guessed was his dad due to the uncanny resemblance.

The Overseer addresses Tim and shook his hand, wishing him the best of luck on the outside. Tim knew it wasn't as heartfelt as she was playing it off to be. He looked over to the other exile. He had seen the man in his office a few times, but never for anything too serious. Other than that though, he had few interactions with him outside of work.

As the others finally arrived, the Overseer gave her speech about how "sorry" she was and about how anything we'd ever done wrong in the vault was absolved. Oh thank god for that. Tim didn't seem to care that much for whatever she had to say. Sending 5 people you grew up with to your death can never be done lightly or without some sort of resentment.

With her speech over the door finally squeaked open, with sparks from the rubbing metal scattering across the floor. As they stepped out, Tim felt the climate controlled air of the vault slip away from him, being replaced by the warm air of New York summer. Just as quickly as the door had opened, it sealed shut, leaving them in the dark tunnel leading to the outside world.

When they went through the door, the world that he had seen in pictures and movies had been replaced with nuclear desert and burnt out foliage, scarred forever by the incompetence of man. Tim checked his Pip-boy to see the radiation levels. "Well, geiger counter doesn't read lethal levels so we're fine for now", he said to the others, "But always take a quick look every now and then to be safe".

Tim looked at all of them, studying their faces, and looked around to take in his surroundings. They should've finished us off instead of sending us out here to slowly rot away.

Alan Burns

Vault 66

9:15-9:30

Alan finished packing up his things, the very things which, he hoped, would ensure his survival out in whatever awaited him of the other side of the Vault's door.. "Today is the day." he thought. "I can't believe this is happening." When he was finished packing, he walked out of his room into the kitchen where his family, mother, father and his 4 year old little sister awaited him, tears in their eyes. "Alan, please be safe. I don't know what we'll do without you. I... I just don't know what to say. I love you so much." His mother said through tears. Alan's father moved in for a hug. "I love you son. Your a good man and we are so proud of you. I know you'll make it through this. Don't worry about us. I'll take care of them." His father said. Suddenly, his little sister ran up to him, and buried her face in his pant leg. "Brother, don't leave!" she said, sobbing. It was all Alan could do to keep it together at that point. "He bent down and picked his sister up. "It's gonna be ok sis. I promise I'll be careful. I'm going to miss you." He said as he gave her a kiss on her forehead and gently set her down. He was visibly crying now. "I love you all. I promise, I'm going to make it through this." Without waiting for a reply, he exited their small little Vault apartment, never to enter again.

As he approached the great door of the Vault, he was filled with mixed emotions. He was excited by the prospect of adventure to be sure, but the fear of leaving everyone and everything weighed down heavily on his mind. As the Vault door slowly opened, he said to himself, "This is it. the moment's finally here. Let's do this."

Paul Newman
Vault 66
9:15-9:30

(OOC: This is freaking massive, but I promise the rest of my posts will be much shorter)

Paul sat on the side of his bed, eyes locked on the digital clock in front of him. The green numbers flashed at him from his bedside table, stopped at 9:15. It was time for him to go. And the teacher couldn't bring himself to do it. His bag was packed, sitting on the floor by his feet. His weapon was cleaned and primed, lying across his bed, pristine. He knew he had to go, but he couldn't stand and leave. He was leaving behind his family, his entire life, and everyone he had ever known. Was that what had been forced on those that had gone before him? Was this what he himself brought upon those faceless names on the ballot, even his own students? Every person in the vault checked a name, and resigned someone else to exile while they continued to go about their lives as if nothing had happened. The irony was not lost on Paul; one of the system's staunchest supporters being subjected to the very fate he advocated for time and time again. The feelings of confidence began to return, remembering that he had taken a stand, that he had stood up and spoken out against this travesty, and he felt as though he had righted his mistake.

With these feelings running through him, Paul sighed deeply and stood. He retrieved the rifle and his bag, and he walked out into the main quarters of his home. It was tidy for the most part, but as any home with a child, toys could easily be spotted, and the tell-tale perpetual disarray lingered. It brought a melancholy smile to the man's face. Yet another thing he would miss about his life in Vault 66. Paul's eyes began to sting, and he blinked quickly, rubbing at them with the back of his hand as he made for the door. He needed to step outside quick or he would never go. They would need to drag him out off his home if he didn't leave soon. His hand reached for the panel with bated breath before--

"Daddy?"

Paul's hand froze in midair and he stiffened, hearing the small voice from behind him. His daughter stood in the room, wiping sleep from her eyes, refusing to release her grasp on Rufus, her teddy bear. Tears welled in her father's eyes as he screwed his eyes shut, fighting them back before he turned to face his little girl. His wife stood in the doorway to their daughter's room, her eyes wet and apologetic. Knowing how hard it would be to leave, they had decided to say their goodbyes the night before. Paul was sure that his daughter didn't fully understand what was going on, that she would never see her father again.

"Lila honey," Paul started, his voice wavering. He cleared his throat before continuing "What're you doing out of bed?"

That last night, they had all slept in Lila's room, the very last time they would be together. Paul had managed to creep out in the early morning to prepare himself, content that he had spent his last moments with his family, and that they had been perfect. He would be able to face his fate, knowing that he had done the right thing. But now, with everything he had forfeited standing right in front of him, his resolve was wavering. He had taken a stand, but at what cost? Paul would never get to see his little girl grow up, and she would have to grow up without a father. He would never grow old with Denise and dance with Lila at her wedding or spoil his grandkids. Everything he had ever wanted, torn apart by his campaign against the system.

Lila's eyes watered, tears flowing down her small cheeks. "I don't want you to go, you can stay! I'll give you Rufus if you stay!" his daughter cried, holding out her most beloved toy in hopes that he would be enough to coax Paul into staying, as if he wanted anything else in the world.

Behind Lila, Denise began sobbing softly into her hand. Paul rubbed his chin grievously, battling to stay strong for his family. This would be the last memory either of them would have of him, and at the very least, he needed to remember him as he was. Dropping his bag and setting his rifle down on the chair next to the door, Paul dropped to his knees. Lila ran to him, throwing her arms around him and sobbing into his shoulder. Paul held her close, holding her head close to him for the very last time. Tears flowed from his eyes as he stroked her hair.

"Sweetie, I would give anything to stay, but daddy has to leave now." Although the odd tear dripped from his eyes, Paul's voice was strong and soothing. "Rufus needs to stay with you, he's under very special orders from me to keep my baby girl safe."

Lila pulled back, holding Rufus out with the most adamant face Paul had ever seen. "Well now he's protecting you!" She looked down at the teddy bear in her arms, regarding him as if he was a soldier. "Rufus, protect daddy!" The stubborn little girl stuffed Rufus inside Paul's bag, his head and arm still poking out.

Paul kissed his little girl's head as Denise moved to them. Lila put her head into her mother's leg and cried. "Thank you baby, I love you and your mother more than anything, never forget that Lila."

Looking into Denise's eyes as Lila cried, Paul realized that she had already forgiven him, as he would never be able to forgive himself. He was leaving her alone to raise the family they had started, but he knew that she would carry on, and she would be the finest mother the vault had ever seen. Paul had given her two notes; one for herself, and one for when Lila reached her 18th birthday. "I will always love you. Wasteland or not, I will always love you."

"I love you too, don't forget that out there, you hear me?" Denise's face twisted as she fought more tears, wrapping an arm around him and hugging him tight. They kissed for the last time as Lila echoed her love for her father.

His heart heavy, Paul left his home into the empty hallways of Vault 66. His rifle in one hand, the strap of his back in the other, Rufus still sticking out of it. All those times he had stayed inside on this day, fearing to run into the elected that would be leaving. Now, he was thankful. No one needed to see a man in the state that Paul was in as he walked those halls. He reached the doors, seeing that he wasn't the last to arrive. The others that already arrived, probably some of his earliest students, stood gathered around the Overseer.

She offered Paul a smile and a handshake, sadness plastered onto her voice. "Mr. Newman, it's a shame you had to be elected. You were the best teacher this Vault had seen for a long time, I hate to see you go."

Paul returned her handshake, an equally fake smile plastered on his face. "It seems I was too smart for my own good, my students were smart enough to exile me before their kids ended up in the top five. But don't worry, I'm sure your son hasn't been corrupted." The Overseer's boy had been in Newman's last class, which was why Paul had no doubt the Overseer had voted for him.

She began her speech, and Paul had to say that she had learned well. He merely shook his head wordlessly as she spoke of how much she hated that day. If she hated it so much, she would have found a way to put an end to it as opposed to preparing speeches for it. Paul hated it, and now he was paying the price for his attempts at reform. Her acting was superb, and Paul wondered where the drama lessons had come from. The door opened with a terrible grinding of old machinery on older metal, rolling away and revealing the dark tunnel that would seal their fate. Swallowing the lump in his throat, Paul followed after the other members in the group as they moved into the future, leaving everything they had known behind.

“What now?” Paul turned towards the one who had spoken up. His name was Thedore, or something close to it. But in Paul's defense, he had taught the young man more than ten years ago, so he might have been wrong.

"Well, geiger counter doesn't read lethal levels so we're fine for now", another of the group members piped up. Paul remembered him as being in the Vault's clinic as a nurse or assistant of some kind, and he believed that his last name was Day. "But always take a quick look every now and then to be safe".

One elect hadn't said anything since they had left the Vault, and Paul remembered him as a more recent student, but only enough to remember that his name was Alan.

"First thing's first, let's just reacquaint ourselves here," Paul said, zipping Rufus up in his bag and slipping the strap of the sack over his head, messenger style. "It's been a good ten years since I've seen any of you, and you might not even know each other, so let's get introductions out there, just like the first day of class. I'm Mr. Newman, but at this point I guess I'm just Paul."

James Wilson- Vault 66- 9.00-9.30

Todays the day I’ve leave the Vault…

James climbed out of his bed and look at the time on his Vault clock 9:15. Getting dressed in his cleanest Vault suit, James opened up a box of sugar bombs and slowly ate them as he re-read over the letter he had written last night.

-
To Vault 66 residents
Hello everyone, for along as this Vault has been closed there has been a secret kept between the Overseer and the maintenance department; the location of the Nerve gas…

For years the Overseers of this Vault have been sending people outside the Vault as they are too scared of what might happen to attempt to disable the Nerve gas Bomb, so was I for that Matter of fact.

Included within this letter is the location and instructions on how to disable the nerve gas, hopefully one of you will brave enough to disable the gas and end the suffering for others voted out into the wasteland….

James Wilson
--

Finishing his sugar bombs and Happy with the letter, James placed it along the Map and instructions on how to disable the nerve gas within a Dl sized envelope and seal it. Taking out a Pencil he wrote “OPEN AT NEXT VOTE!-READ OUT LOUD TO VAULT.” on the front of the envelope before placing it on his desk.....

Overseers gonna have some examining to do when this comes out…

Finishing with the Letter James spend the next five minutes quickly checking all of his gear, making sure it all worked and that he didn’t leave any behind…

Finishing up James put on his Baseball cap and made his way to door as he did he turned around to have one last look at his room. Despite it being rather messy and dirty with James’s work, was probably the cleanest room he’d see for the rest of his life, unless they stumbled on to another Vault or something….

And then there was the Bed, if the stories other people spread were true, this was probably the last good night sleep we was ever gonna have….

Leaving his Bedroom James made his way to the Vault door. The others were already here with their loved ones, the only loved one James had left was his brother and he was aready outside…

The Overseer addresses James and shook his hand, wishing him the best of luck on the outside, James knew she was putting it on but played along for the others watching. Finishing with the Overseer James made his way other the Theo and the other exiles, he knew Theo from engineering and he recognised one of others as his Brothers Assistant but didn’t know his name….

The Overseer then gave her speech about how "sorry" she was and about how anything we'd ever done wrong in the vault was absolved. James knew she was lying, or else she would have the nerve gas disabled or found some other to end the voting….
The five Exiles then left the Vault and made their way outside, with the Vault door shutting as soon as they left…

“What now?” Theo asked to the others

"Well, Geiger counter doesn't read lethal levels so we're fine for now", the assistant guy said "But always take a quick look every now and then to be safe". He added on

"First thing's first, let's just reacquaint ourselves here, It's been a good ten years since I've seen any of you, and you might not even know each other, so let's get introductions out there, just like the first day of class. I'm Mr. Newman, but at this point I guess I'm just Paul."

“Sounds like an good idea” James said “I’m James Wilson, I was one of Vault Engineer’s and I reckon we should find some sort of shelter before we start exploring or what not.” he added on…

"First thing's first, let's just reacquaint ourselves here, It's been a good ten years since I've seen any of you, and you might not even know each other, so let's get introductions out there, just like the first day of class. I'm Mr. Newman, but at this point I guess I'm just Paul."

Alan just then realized he hadn't said a word since the group left. He piped up finally " Um, sorry I haven't said much guys. I'm still sorta in shock from this...mess. I'm Alan. You've probably seen me around a few times. I was a security guard for about 4 years. I think I recognize you all but sad to say I can't put a name to any of you, well except for you Mr. Newman, err I mean Paul. I had you as a teacher if I recall correctly."

He took a short pause to gather himself. "It's nice to meet you all, although I wish it were better circumstances." he said with a slight laugh, as much of one as he could muster anyway.

Alan couldn't get over the desolation all around him, and it showed on his face, no matter how hard he tried to fight it. It wasn't like anything he had ever seen. All the images and videos he had ever seen of the outside world depicted land called America, so vibrant and full of life. But this, this was no America he had ever seen. It was absolutely horrifying. But he couldn't give up. The image of his little sister flashed into his mind. It filled him with a strange sense of courage, the will to go on. To survive.

Alan took a deep breath. He looked at the others and waited for the rest to introduce themselves.

Theodore “Theo” Rhodes
New York Wasteland
9:30AM - 11:00AM

Theo took a look around at the desolate land, it was dry and didn’t look like rain had fallen for quite some time. He was about to speak up again as one of the members in the group suddenly spoke.

“Well, geiger counter doesn't read lethal levels so we're fine for now, but always take a quick look every now and then to be safe.”

Theo had completely forgotten to even check for radiation. Quickly he pulled his Pip-boy 2000, the reading was indeed nonlethal. Theo was a bit grateful for that, but he wouldn’t have felt horrible if it was lethal, his and the other’s deaths would come soon enough he figured.

“First thing's first, let's just reacquaint ourselves here," another one of the group members chimed in. "It's been a good ten years since I've seen any of you, and you might not even know each other, so let's get introductions out there, just like the first day of class. I'm Mr. Newman, but at this point I guess I'm just Paul.”

Theo looked at the man, indeed he remembered him. Vaguely, but he remembered him in his later school years. The man had taken over the position of being the vault’s teacher, just as Theo was in what would have been high school. His time with Mr. Newman, or Paul, had been a short one, Theo wasn’t sure if he’d remember him so much.

“Sounds like a good idea,” another member chimed in. “I’m James Wilson, I was one of Vault Engineer’s and I reckon we should find some sort of shelter before we start exploring or what not.”

Theo turned his attention to him, remembering him right away. The two had worked in the maintenance department of the vault, sometimes sharing the same work or at least work space as one another on one job or another. James had been the son of the head maintenance chief, which had made him a target for gossip between Theo and the rest behind his back.

Some of the rumors had some truth, some Theo figured were just grudges made up to spread bad press about him. Theo was just as guilty of spreading the unkind words, but had never made up something like the others had. One rumor Theo could remember about him, was that the reason James had gotten out of one of the harsher duties in the vault, was because of his father. Nobody could figure otherwise, although Theo had privately investigated, but it turned out he’d just had a bit of stomach pain or something along those lines. Theo couldn’t quite remember, but it hadn’t to do with his father. That time anyway.

“Um, sorry I haven't said much guys. I'm still sorta in shock from this...mess. I'm Alan. You've probably seen me around a few times. I was a security guard for about 4 years. I think I recognize you all but sad to say I can't put a name to any of you, well except for you Mr. Newman, err I mean Paul. I had you as a teacher if I recall correctly.” He paused for a moment, collecting himself. “It's nice to meet you all, although I wish it were better circumstances.”

Theo couldn’t quite remember seeing Alan in the guard, he was young, the youngest in the group by the looks of it, and had probably only been in there for a short time. He definitely didn’t spend his time in the same circles Theo had, although maybe he had, but when Theo was long gone from whatever group.

“Well, I’m Theodore Rhodes. Most just call me Theo for short. Some faces are familiar, others I can’t quite say I’ve seen much of until now. But I guess we’ll all be seeing each other’s ugly mugs for quite some time now.” He paused and took a quick glance back out into the wasteland, thinking for a moment on what to do next.

“I’m with James on finding shelter, especially with these clouds,” he started, “but by the looks of things out here, we’re in the middle of nowhere. Any direction we go could just go on and on, leading us nowhere? Who knows if anyone’s still alive out here either, this place doesn’t look like it’s had much water in the last decade or more?” He paused again and checked his Pip-boy 2000. “I say we head north. In the old movies they showed in the vault, the hero’s always went north. Maybe we find something to call shelter?”

Paul Newman
New York Wasteland
9:30-11 AM

“I’m James Wilson, I was one of Vault Engineer’s and I reckon we should find some sort of shelter before we start exploring or what not.”

Paul felt a small smile creep across his face as the group made their introductions. It really was like they were back in class again, if Paul could ignore the sentiments about finding shelter and radiation. He couldn't, however, and the reality of the situation wiped the smile from the teacher's face. He had always suspected that the people who were voted out were sent to their deaths, and here they were in the very same situation they had thrust upon countless others. Newman really needed to stop revisiting that sentiment; the issue at hand was their survival, not their guilt.

Shifting his weight nervously, Paul turned his eyes on Alan as he introduced himself to the group. "You've probably seen me around a few times. I was a security guard for about 4 years. I think I recognize you all but sad to say I can't put a name to any of you, well except for you Mr. Newman, err I mean Paul. I had you as a teacher if I recall correctly.” Alan said, causing Paul to flash a small smile once again. “It's nice to meet you all, although I wish it were better circumstances.”

"Indeed Mr. Burns, this reunion really isn't taking place in the best setting." Newman said, glancing around at the nuclear nightmare they had been thrown into. The sky was littered with dark, wispy clouds, not entirely different in color or texture from the mushroom cloud on the Vault Boy lunchbox he was carrying. The sun was still brighter, probably brighter than it really was, but Paul's vault eyes had yet to fully adjust to the comparatively scorching light. He squinted into the distance to compensate, only to rewarded with miles of dry dirt stretched out before him, dark spots of ruins dotting the landscape.

“Well, I’m Theodore Rhodes. Most just call me Theo for short. Some faces are familiar, others I can’t quite say I’ve seen much of until now. But I guess we’ll all be seeing each other’s ugly mugs for quite some time now.”

Paul hadn't taught Theo for long, but he remembered that he had gotten into some trouble every now and then. Still, he had been a bright kid, and maintenance in Vault 66 wasn't a place to dump the idiots: they couldn't let a bunch of morons know where the nerve gas that ran their existence was. Some of the best the Vault had to offer ended up in maintenance, simply because it was the one position they couldn't afford a mistake in.

“I’m with James on finding shelter, especially with these clouds, but by the looks of things out here, we’re in the middle of nowhere. Any direction we go could just go on and on, leading us nowhere? Who knows if anyone’s still alive out here either, this place doesn’t look like it’s had much water in the last decade or more?...I say we head north. In the old movies they showed in the vault, the hero’s always went north. Maybe we find something to call shelter?”

Paul spoke up, lending his voice to the discussion. "Shelter is good, we definitely need shelter." Newman thought carefully before he continued, rubbing his beard with his free hand while the Springfield was still clasped in the other. "You always have to be careful with that pre-war stuff though. I mean, just look at this." Paul said as he used his free hand to fish through his duffle bag, retrieving the Vault Boy Lunchbox that carried some of his food and water and holding it up for the group to see. "This lunch box is advertising the Vault as safe refuge from the nuclear holocaust. Yet here we are, former Vault dwellers, cast out as a result of some sick social experiment." He paused and looked around the group, hoping to see his message sink in. "Take the pre-war stuff from the Vault with a grain of salt. Although, right now, we don't really have a better option than going north. As far as we know, north is just as good or bad as any direction."

Timothy Day

New York Wasteland

9:30 - 11 am

Tim looked around, still surveying the wasteland ahead of them, when someone else spoke up. "First thing's first, let's just reacquaint ourselves here, It's been a good ten years since I've seen any of you, and you might not even know each other, so let's get introductions out there, just like the first day of class. I'm Mr. Newman, but at this point I guess I'm just Paul."

Tim did in fact recognize Paul from school, him being Tim's teacher for a year and then some. Tim then waited for the rest to identify themselves. He didn't really personally know them, other than the logs kept in the clinic. Finally it was his turn.

"I'm Timothy Day, or just Tim. I used to be the Vault's PA, so i've seen most of you at least once or twice. I guess now out here though i'm just a doctor." Tim was a bit nervous with him being the only one with medical backround, it made surviving that much harder.

Tim then chimed in with the shelter issue, "Going north is better than staying where we are now. We should probably keep a look out for some pre-war signs to figure out where the hell we're going". He doubted that would do much good, considering the landscape has dramatically changed from the bombs, rendering most landmarks useless. Nonetheless though, it might lead them toward civilization.

He looked up at the sky, the gray clouds swelling in the blue sky. It made Tim nervous about the rain, whether it was still filled with deadly radiation or not concerned him. He had heard of radiation doing crazy s*** to your body, and Tim would rather not grow extra appendiges or have his face melt off "Shall we get going then? It would probably be ideal to beat the storm and not risk getting caught in it."

Tim checked his Pip-boy 2000's map... nothing around in this area. He really wished he was anywhere else but here right now, trudging along in an unknown wasteland with death around every corner. He looked at his model 700 and cycled the bolt to see if he had remembered to load it. 5 rounds. He slung it over his shoulder and shifted his weight, waiting for the others to respond.

Alan Burns

Vault 66

9:30-11 AM

"Shall we get going then? It would probably be ideal to beat the storm and not risk getting caught in it."

"Yeah, I agree. Shelter is a necessity at this point. I wonder if we can find some sort of cave or something." Alan's face suddenly brightened a bit as he thought of an idea. "Hey, you wouldn't suppose the bombs didn't completely destroy everything right? Do you all think there may be some sort of house out here somewhere we all could take refuge in?"

In truth, Alan wasn't sure at all if anything could be left in this wasteland. Everything was so barren, and no matter where he looked it seemed that there was nothing for miles. But the notion of something having withstood the test of time and the Great War itself filled him with a bit more hope. He honestly wanted to get as far away from the old Vault as possible. It made him very uncomfortable to think of his family being just on the other side of some door, whether it be a great door of steel or not. It was like having them just within reach, but not quite.

Alan stared once again at the horizon of the baron wasteland he was now forced to call his home. He strained to find something, anything, until his eyes hurt. Nothing though. He turned back to the rest of his companions, basically his new family, and waited for a response.

Theodore “Theo” Rhodes
New York Wasteland
9:30AM - 11:00AM

Theo was glad everyone agreed that north was the way they should go. Paul was right that it was no better than any other direction, everything was so dry and empty around them. There wasn’t even a breeze, everything was so still. The dark overcast clouds didn't look too friendly, but again the land didn't look like it'd been wet for quite awhile.

“Hey, you wouldn't suppose the bombs didn't completely destroy everything right? Do you all think there may be some sort of house out here somewhere we all could take refuge in?” Alan asked the group.

“Who can say with the way everything looks?” Theo said with a shrug. “Maybe, maybe not?”

He took a moment to check around, but he knew they were wasting time. They couldn’t stand around all day, figuring the world and all it’s details if they didn’t step more than five feet into it.

“Come on,” Theo said to the group, not wanting to stand around anymore. Standing outside his and their old home, was starting to bother him. “Let’s head north, we’ll find out if anything’s alive out here or not? And we’ll see if there’s any homes still standing?”

He adjusted his rucksack and turned north, picking up his feet. By the looks of it, it really wasn’t any different than what South, East, West, or any point in between, looked like. The sense of emptiness in the world began to set in on Theo a bit. He couldn't imagine people living out here, in this barren place, void of anything that looked like it could offer substance.

“Anyone bring any music to play? Know any games? I think we might be walking for a bit."

Theo took a moment to look back up at the sky, at least they weren't going to be walking in heat. That was something they'd been told the outside world would be, nothing but. . . hot. It was actually rather temperate.

James Wilson-New york Wasteland- late morning (9.30-11.00)

“I’m with James on finding shelter, especially with these clouds, but by the looks of things out here, we’re in the middle of nowhere. Any direction we go could just go on and on, leading us nowhere? Who knows if anyone’s still alive out here either, this place doesn’t look like it’s had much water in the last decade or more?...I say we head north. In the old movies they showed in the vault, the hero’s always went north. Maybe we find something to call shelter?”

“Well I want to find my Brother, Edward; He got voted out the Vault six months ago for that Botched operation he did… six months is an long time but there’s a chance he could still be alive” James said as he drew his Scoped rifle “But with that in mind, I have no-idea where he or the last group would have gone so North is okay with me.”

I can always search the south part of city later on…

“Shall we get going then? It would probably be ideal to beat the storm and not risk getting caught in it. “ Tim said, James doubted
that the storm would still be radioactive but didn’t want to sit around to find out…..

“Who can say with the way everything looks?” Theo said with a shrug. “Maybe, maybe not?”

“I read in a Book that “Government” Building with Built to survive nuclear wars and other disasters, not sure if it’s true but Edward would probably go to a Hospital and they *should* be filled with supplies we can take, unless someone has taken them already.”

“Although I think a Hotel would make a suitable shelter for us” James added on, whilst he fiddled around with his rifle, he had never used one before so took a few minutes for him to properly load the weapon.

“Come on,” Theo said to the group, “Let’s head north, we’ll find out if anything’s alive out here or not? And we’ll see if there’s any homes still standing?”

“Sounds good to me” James said, he started to walk North with the others. Looking around he noticed how “barren” everything was and void of anything that looked like it could offer substance.
Hopefully it’s better within the City….

“Anyone bring any music to play? Know any games? I think we might be walking for a bit."

“Nope” James replied “Although I guess we could play a game of looking for a Road sign and find out where the [censored] we are “James chuckled, he then looked down his rifle scope in an attempt to find a road sign.
