Galsiah Vs Balor Levelling Mod

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:12 am

Hi all,
I have downloaded both these mods:
Galsiah's character development
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2030

Balor Levelling
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2699

Which one of these do you think is better? And why do you think so?

I actually prefer http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=7429

It fixes the only thing that was frustrating/broken with the exisitng system, the need for micromanaging your skill advancement to maximise on possible +5 stat gains.

With this, you don't need to worry and you still get +5 for that attribute if all skill gains are in the same attribute, but the other attribtues don't suffer because of it. Personally, I use the medium version, +4 to each stat is far more balanced.

The main reason I don't like GCD and others, and I've played through with GCD and nGCD in Oblivion is because I like to have even a little control over where my points go, it just suits me more as an RPG. And it feels like more of an accomplishment.

Personally I wish someone would port over, the fantastic http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15619 which gives you an experience bar and you get experience for killing, crafting, exploring, harvesting and finishing quests. Simply amazing.

I have used GCD and Madd Leveler for long periods (since they both came out in 2004) and the're both good but they are very different. I believe Balor is very similar to Madd although I haven't used it. Anyway, you must try them for a little while to see which better suits your style. Just try a few levels with each and you'll see pretty quickly.

Oddly enough, I've gone back to the vanilla system in spite of its flaws. I don't power level (all 5's) anymore. I know the game well enough to get along with only getting about 7 points per level. BTW: my long term average attributes per level with Madd Leveler was about 11.

Thank you boyh for your answers :)

I'm not very capable of distinguish between the different skill levelling and to discern of much one mod differs from the others :)

I'm only searching a levelling mod that makes the game not a "IwillBeQuicklyADemiGod" one but makes me play throghout the game without the sensation of being an unvincible man/elf/orch/butterfly. Simply, briefly, a mod that lets me levelling in a quite normal way :)

Any suggestion? :)

Best suggestion I can give you is:

If you prefer more immersive leveling, use GCD.

If you prefer more RPG-esque level ups, use Linoras.

Either way, the best way to curb the "Getting too strong, too fast".. is the difficulty slider and Morrowind Enhanced's difficulty sliders! I personally go 50-70 with double Health and 3-4 times more damage on NPCs. (Using MW Enhanced's sliders).

What do you mean with more RPG-esque? Do you intend a levelling based on my wills and not on the wills of the game?

Mmm it sounds me a little bit strange.. If you go 50/70 Difficulty, but at the same time you double your health and make 3/4 time the normal damage, isn't it anyway too easy?

Have you played other RPGs? Most of them have stat and skill allocation in the hands of the player, as well as some kind of expeirence leveling system. And the stock leveling system (with Linora's modifications) is more true to the RPG feel, for me atleast.

GCD on the other hand is much more immersive, you don't think of yourself as a character in a game that has stats, but you develop naturally over time. I guess GCD is more for immersion roleplayers.

By 50-70, I refer to the in game difficulty slider, which goes up to 100. By 50-70, I mean, inbetween there depending on what kind of character I play.

I don't double my health, or 3-4 times my damage.. but the enemy NPC. Because with Combat Enhanced's Trance and Rage and Combat Moves, it's can be too easy at times even with upped difficulty slider unless you beef up the NPCs stats aswell so if your not careful they can stomp you!

There's http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9914 for Oblivion, I wonder if there's anything similar for Morrowind? If not, then someone should definitely try to make something like that, because I think it's a very balanced and interesting method.
Basically, your attribute modifiers are calculated from your class and always stay the same during the game. They're not dependent on the skill advancements at all. Your average of total attribute increases per level-up will be something like 9 or 10, which in Oblivion meant that you usually couldn't max out all your attributes.

Balor's mod is the one I have used the most. As an immersionist/roleplayer one of the things I most like about Balor's mod is skill decay which attempts to mimic real-life conditions such as muscle atrophy and memory retention.

Ok, I will use Linora's Levelling system. You convinced me :D

Sorry, I have misunderstood your words ('cause of my bad english, sorry)
